Advantages: Supermarkets are usually cheaper

Disadvantages: You might have to travel miles for a loaf of bread

Supermarket shopping offers a wide range of goods at low cost. That's the whole principle ot it! They buy in bulk and sell cheaper to us than our friendly neighbourhood shop can.

There is a big problem here for those who live in rural areas. Our local shops can't make a living and they are fast disappearing. If you need a loaf of bread or a pint of milk you face a sometimes lengthy journey to get it.

If you live in rural areas and have local shops, use them when you can or you will lose them. Most people aren't aware of how inconvenient this is until they find there isn't a shop within miles of their house.

Use the supermarkets for your main shop and to save money but you could still buy your bread, milk and incidentals locally, just to keep your shop going.
