Newest Review: ... This discount could not be taken in cash though and we had to select £50 of goods from the store. If goods are not in stock then Tempo will deliver them to you. Be aware, however, that you will be charged for this. This was not made clear to us until we received the invoice where £11.99 had been added for delivery (and all because the one that the store had in stock had been password locked). The stores are generally located in out of town retail parks and tend to be large rather than small. The stores are well lit and the products displayed well although several items can only be inspected through a glass screen until the assistant get... more

IMPORTANT UPDATE: SEEMS MY OPINION WAS RATHER TIMELY. AS OF 20 DECEMBER TEMPO CEASESD TRADING. IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT A PRODUCT FROM THEM OR HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS PURCHASED BEFORE 24 SEPTEMBER 2001 VISIT THEIR WEBSITE AS YOU MAY HAVE TO REGISTER AS AN UNSECURED CREDITOR OF THE COMPANY. IF YOUR EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS BOUGHT BEFORE 24 SEPTEMBER BUT AFTER 1997 IT WILL BE WORTHLESS. AGAIN THEIR SITE OFFERS ADDRESSES OF MANUFACTURERS IN CASE YOU NEED A REPAIR OR SERVICE BUT YOUR GUARANTEE MAY NOT BE HONOURED. Talk to Tempo - that is what the ad says. Correction. Don't sign on the dotted line until Tempo talks to you. ...  Read the complete review

having bought a new freezer from them in January'01 it passed away overnight in Mid August'01. Now that was the start of the fun and games !!! After two weeks wrangling Tempo finally managed to get an engineer out to look at the dead freezer, unfortunately he told me repairs would cost more than a new freezer. Tempo however could not exchange the said item as they no longer stocked it. They would not exchange it for a similar but more expensive model, and to cap it all wouldn't offer a refund !!! After a strong letter to their head office customer service manager threatening a claim against them in the small claims court they agreed to uplift the dead ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I nearly lost my temper at Tempo (590 words)

I swear I will NEVER buy anything electrical from Tempo ever again. This is simply down to my one and only experience with them a couple of years ago and because of this, I would rather spend that extra tenner or so elsewhere and be treated like a customer with it. The product in question was a Bush hi-fi, which I wanted because it was affordable and had extremely good write-ups by its reviewers. I had bought the product and it had performed very well until about a week before the twelve month guarantee was up. The CD player was faulty, initially I thought it was the CD, but after endless testing with another six CDs, and then testing the same ones ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review NEVER SIGN ON THAT LINE (244 words)

OK? Good, Tempo is the worst electrical retailer that I have had the misfortune of shopping at - a combination of different things have made it an experience of shopping that I can leave in the past, and hopefully never catch me up again. I'm now happy buying from Comet, Currys and so on - Tempo unfortunately is lagging behind the competition, why? Products - they don't stock nearly enough products, nor the right ones. The shop layout is jumbled, they have a limited stock of products, beaten by Curry's and Comet considerably. They do stock a slight range of televisions, musical electricals, leads, very few PCs and computer games, but quite a lot of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tempo: Nowt to shout about (742 words)

I've had two experiences with Tempo. One in Swindon, one in Newbury. Tempo (if you don't know) is a general chain of electrical stores that you will find nationwide. There's probably one near you somewhere. When Tempo first came along they injected a bit of competition into the Currys versus Comet scenario. That can't be a bad thing now can it? Their prices are generally quite good although Comet do generally pip them to the post on most occasions. They have a wide range of equipment ranging from white goods (Fridges, Dishwashers etc) to TV's, PC's and even Telephones. My first experience: I was off to buy my ...  Read the complete review
