Advantages: good choice, prices good
Disadvantages: none
Tesco is one of the main Supermarkets in the Uk. I watched a televison programme about Tesco once and it said that Tesco is the largest Supermarket chain and there are more Tesco stores in the Uk than any other type of shop.
There are 4 types of Tesco shops - Superstore, Supermarkets, Express, and Metro.
Superstore - The biggest Supermarket from Tesco.
Supermarkets - surely explain themselves. A large shop that has many, many things in it.
Express - Basically a large corner shop. You can sometimes find these near Petrol stations and there is a few of these in the larger villages near where I stay
Metro - A shop the size in between the express shop and the supermarket. Basically a mini supermarket.
Each store has it's advantages, but obviouly the supermarkets have a large variety of products and choice of products, but the smaller the shop and you find you may only get 1 variety of toothpaste and so on.
I am a fan of this chain because the prices are usually pretty low and there is the benefit of the famous Tesco Clubcard. With the Clubcard you get 1 point for every £1 spent and you get the points paid 4 times a year. Unless you opt to join their Christmas club, which I did and then you only get the points at the end of November every year, but this way you get all the points at once and most people like extra money at Christmas time. Also when you get your clubcard vouchers you often either get money off coupons and extra points coupons, which is perhaps 25 extra points if you spend £1 or more on bread and so on.
Asda famously quoted a few years ago that they weren't going to offer a loyalty sceme eg points becuase they would rather keep their prices low and loyalty schemes, although gave the customer some incentive to shop at the store, Asda hinted that this incentive resulted in higher prices for the goods in the shop, but as far as I can see in my normal shop then the prices are pretty competative. On a lot of products they have a banner that states the Tesco price, and the prices in Sainsbury's and Asda, and where it has this banner then you will find the price is the same or cheaper in Tesco - after all they wouldn't say they were dearer, would they?
A new incentive that Tesco has been running is to give you a clubcard point for every bag you re-use. it doesn't matter if it is from another supermarket, if you use your own bags then you get points for not using their bags, which makes me want to re-use! They also have a large canvas bag instore where you can put your unwanted carrier bags and they don't go to landfill!
I'm not going to list what Tesco sell, as i'm sure we are aware of what a large supermarket sells - basically a bit of most things - food, drink, clothes, crockery and so on
A great shop, as a 1 stop shop!
