Advantages: cheap, really wide range

Disadvantages: clothing

Tesco have suddenly become the largest supermarket chain in Britain by far. Not only do they dominate out of town shopping, especially with their Tesco extra stores, stocking an even wider range, but they have small city centre stores (tesco express and tesco metro) and even home centres at some retailers (tesco homeplus). To cap it all they also have internet services which import games and electricals from jersey at a lower cost, and a catalogue service, tesco direct.

In the supermarkets, they sell everything, and the larger the supermarket, the larger the range. Tesco value is their budget range, whilst tesco finest is mre luxury.
In order to try and use the credit crunch, thier current campaign is the discount brands. This features brand items (although in general, brands you havent heard of before) at discounted prices.

their clothing is florence ad fred and cherokee. Its not the cheapest of csupermarket clothing brands, and in general i'm not overly impressed with it, but i know some people absolutely love it!

with growing consessions, including opticians, tesco is going to be around for a long time.
