Advantages: Great range, cheap stuff, good clothing range for little ones.
Disadvantages: I can't find the foods I want.
~~~Tesco~~~
Tesco isn't my first choice when it come to doing the weekly shop but I do shop there atleast twice a month.
My local Tesco has only recently opened again after it was moved from one end of the town centre to the other, the old one is now a Poundland store!!
The new store I must say is 100 times better than the last.
It's now a pretty big store which is set over 2 floors. My local Tesco offers the following facillities ~~~
Cafe, 1 hour photo processing, baby care, customer toilets, cash machine and disabled access ~ also another nearby one has ~ Petrol station, Car wash and Recycling facillities.
Your local store could be bigger and offer more or may be smaller.
The product range in my local Tesco ~~~
Clothing, Toys, Homewear, Chicken counter, Fish counter, Meat counter, Bakery, Asian, Polish and a few other world foods, not to mention your general weekly shopping items :o).
I find my local Tesco to be a bit chaotic, but that's probably because it's in the town centre and is always busy. I really dislike going there to do food shopping as there doesn't seem to be much of a range of items, probably has something to do witht he fact that I am a creature of habit and know my way around my local Asda like the back of my hand!!!!
I do however quite like the babies and kids clothing range, I find the clothes keep really nice and I'm forever picking bit's up for my boys.
In my opinion the baby clothes are fab! For a decent low price you can pick up lovely Disney baby outfits and they are so sweet!
I also love the fact that Tesco always have a sale rack of really nice tops and bottoms.
I was desperate for a new pair of school shoes for my 6 year old last year as he absolutly ruined his new shoes within 2 weeks of having them, being a bit strapped for cash at the time I found a fab pair in tesco for about £4 in the sale! Really smart school shoes for thirty quid less than the first pair and they lasted him the rest of the year.......He refused to have new ones as they were 'super squishy' as he called them!
I also like the adult clothing both men and women but I find that there'll only be one or two nice items out of everything!!! But when you do find something nice it usually is just what you wanted!
I also like the ladies accessories, they have some lovely jewellery and in the winter months they do nice hats, scarfs, gloves etc...
I like the fact that all of the supermarkets compete in prices as this means that generally you will find things a lot cheaper in one store than the other and I find Tesco do great offers on their alcohol at christmas time.....we all love a christmas party, speaking of which....Only 8 weeks to go untill christmas, hasn't it come around fast this year...Sorry!
Tesco are currently running the half price toy sale....... well in my opinion the prices have just been doubled the cut in half again so they end up back at the same price they originally were!! Maybe that's just my local store though?
I did however pick up a Magnetix case thingy for my 6 year old last week and it was £3.66 instead of it's usual £20 odd. Bargain!!
Tesco also run a points scheme where for every pound you spend you get one point but at the moment, it's double points! Tesco will then send you a money off voucher for the amount you have in points, I'm not sure how often they do this though. I think the points can also be saved up for other things but I really am not sure. It is quite a good thing though as you are not loosing anything by doing it!
I also collect Tesco Saving Stamps for Christmas. They have little coin machines in store, you put in £1 and you get a stamp. The stamp is worth £1, you then stick the stamps in the card booklet thingy and you save up. I think if you collect £49 worth of stamps Tesco give you a free stamp to make it up to £50 and £98 worth of stamps you'll get 2 bonus ones to make it up to £100, I think you have to redeem them in November/December to qualify for the bonus free stamps though. It may be a bit less actually maybe it's £48 and £96? for the free stamps. I don't have my booklet here to hand my mum keeps it safe lol!!
You can also save on a credit card size savings card now too, it works like a top up card and you just put what you want on it. I think both ways are a great way to save for Christmas because for some crazy bizarre reason we all tend to go a little mad with the food over the festive season and spend way too much, at least when your saving through the year you have no worry about finding the big sum of money for food at this time of the year.
Another great thing about Tesco is the Tesco Value range items, everything in this range is pretty basic but so very cheap. They also do Tesco branded foods and other items which to be honest are nearly as good as the more expensive brands.
I also find they do a good range of DVD's and CD's for around £5 or under I picked up Nutty Professor for my 8 year old for just £2, he loved it and I don't mind if it get's lost/ruined in a couple weeks so long as he has watched it and enjoyed it thats fine by me!
Overall I find Tesco good for everything bar the weekly shop!!
Summary: Good store, but just not my favourite.
