Advantages: sometimes works!
Disadvantages: unreliable, time-consuming, unhelpful
I used Tesco Online to get my groceries quite happily for a year. Sure, sometimes the delivery was late, but they always called me to let me know. OK, they didn't always have everything I wanted, but our local store seemed to have a particularly intelligent group of pickers and the substitutions were nearly always what I'd have chosen myself. However this last week I have been experiencing the worst customer service of my entire life. To cut a long story short, they failed to deliver my order, rescheduled it, failed to deliver, rescheduled it, failed to deliver, tried to reschedule - at that point I'd had enough. Three precious evenings wasted waiting in for groceries which never arrived (not to mention the time spent trying to get through to their call centre) and then staying up late waiting for them to call me back and explain what was going on, was quite enough for me. So I still have no food in the house. After they failed to deliver twice, I rang a few hours before the scheduled delivery time to confirm it was actually coming. They said no, they had no record of the order and that there seemed to have been crossed wires - as if it was my fault. Now, at this point you might expect that they would have pulled out all the stops to get me my order. Their own records showed, after all, that they had messed me around twice, even if they weren't sure about the third. But they merely said they could rebook for later on in the week! Anyway, to add insult to injury, they have debited my credit card not once but TWICE - that's a total of £166 - for food which never arrived. I'm waiting with bated breath to see if they charge me for the third non-delivery. No way would I use Tesco again.

- 06/09/03 sorry to hear about your problems. ive used the survice which was fine. but i wouldn't use it again with the delivery charge. I missed the actual shopping experience and sometimes you remember things you need or see a special offer in store. But with online shopping a lot can go wrong as it is really online and offline cut and stuck together (you do the online, someone else does the offline). One little problem can spiral. There is just too much to go wrong |

- 06/09/03 Sorry about the low rating, it is in the wrong place, also it does'nt give info about the service just about your problem with them.

- 06/09/03 Sorry to hear about your problems, hope you get some food in soon! Tesco annoyed me this week too (the store, not the online shop). It's peak UK tomato season and Tesco only had 4 different types of Dutch tomatoes - no British ones at all. Grrrrr. |
