Advantages: Something to suit everyone
Disadvantages: I end up buying too much chocolate from here
Having just been given a lovely box of Premium chocolates by my lovely husband I have decided to write a review of Thorntons. I am a Cadbury's woman through and through but I make an exception for Thorntons. In Plymouth we have a lovely little Thorntons shop but recently they have introduced us Plymothians to the delight that is the Thorntons café. When it first opened it was packed for months and months. Everyone was talking about it and I finally got to sample it a few weeks a go when I went out for a coffee with my friends.
The café is very reasonably priced and I got a big plate of profiteraoles for just £2.50. They sell hot chocolates, coffee and all sorts of Thornton based cakes and chocolate bars.
The shop is just as good and I often find myself wandering through the doors to pick up chocolates for birthdays and Christmases. I love the fact that you can buy a chocolate shaped animal and then they will ice it with a personal message at no extra cost. I always think that buying chocolate is a bit of a last resort but for some like my dad who is the hardest person in the world to buy for, it is one of the only things I can think of for him. I think it looks a bit thoughtless to be honest but by going to Thorntons and having it iced with a message that will make him laugh, well, that makes it much more personal.
Thorntons have a wide range of chocolate to choose from and one that is suitable for everyones price range too. You can buy boxes, bars and even choose from a selection of Pic N Mix ones. If you have an allergy to gluten, a vegetarian or even a diabetic you can find something that will suit you. You will even find Fairtrade chocolates in here.
Thorntons also do the most amazing ice creams that cost anywhere from £2 for a small and £3 for large. There are tones of flavours to choose form and you even get chocolate sauce and wafers for free.
The trouble with this place is that I can't stop buying the odd little treat for myself. The chocolate is just so good that I end up accidently on purpose walking in instead of walking past!
There really is something to suit everyone here and I would say that most of it is no more expensive than the standard chocolate that you would find in a shop. I would definitely recommend this shop and if you have a café nearby then do try that as well.
Summary: A great place for that added touch to some chocolate based prooducts
