Advantages: the occassional bargain
Disadvantages: clothing, price, queues,
TK Maxx used to be amazing but even though its had this big advertising campaign on television, its not as good as it used to be simply because the clothing is rubbish! well for men anyway.
TK Maxx is an outlet store that sells designer labels at discount prices. No shelves or pretty displays - everything is on rails grouped into garments. the whole shop has a very vintage feel to it, even the music they sometimes play takes you back to the 80s!
I used to go to to TK Maxx every month 5 or so years ago because there was always a good bargain to be found. back then i would say that 80% of the stuff you would never dream of buying, but persevere and 20% was actually worth a look. and the clearance stock was much better then.
Nowadays, and maybe this is just due to my changes in fashion, i would say that 95% of their stock is useless to me - either unfashionable or too expensive. either way when you go to TK Maxx you have to realize that its a hunting style of shopping. the majority of stuff you would not be seen dead in, but in between those velvet trousers and beige sailors chinos may be lurking that pair of levis you wanted.
but these days, tk maxx has been replaced by primark in my list of favourite value shops. though i shall continue to visit tk maxx every now and then just to satisfy my curiosity.
now TJ MAXX - the american version - is a completely different story!
Summary: look what you've ruined!

- 31/07/08 I think the named stuff tends to be too "out there" for the average shopper which is why it ends up in TK Maxx! |
