venture portraits (venture) (Venture)

Advantages: cheap initial voucher price Disadvantages: extremely expensive for the actual images, and disappointing photos we found venture pretty bad too. we paid £25 for a voucher, alegedly worth £125, for studio time etc. we wanted a nice photo of myself, my husband & my daughter, who is 4 months old. in the selection they showed us, 4 photos had one of us with our eyes closed, somehow they managed to miss at least 60% of my husbands face of all the photos, on one of them they cropped it so much that you could only see his nose & mouth - no eyes at all! and although they took photos of my daughter smiling (which is what all parents want), they only showed us ones of her not smiling, as they said she looked less posed! they seemed to be desperate to make the pictures look 'arty' and didn't take enough notice of the subject matter - just as long as they were at an angle, or bleached out. however they weren't too overly pushy, and we ended up just having the gift photo, as we didn't like any of the photos enough for anything bigger. i wouldn't use them again. i feel like it was a wasted opportunity, and wasted day. my daughter was smiling and laughing all day and if we'd have gone somewhere else, i'm positive we'd have got much better images. they were recommended to us by a friend, but i certainly wouldn't recommend them back. Summary: if you have a spare £1000 for a photo with half your face missing, then this is for you! |
