I really hate to have to write a negative review. But I don't know what else to do now. I ordered a pair of jeans from this company. Tried them on they same day that I received them and returned them immediately as they were small. I have received no refund. Have called the company 4 times since then and every time the only explanation I receive is "we're sorry, we don't know what's happened, we will refund the money today". It's been a few weeks now and still no money.
Very slow delivery, you will never know whether you will receive an order in 10 days, a month, or later. Sometimes you receive an order when the items are not needed anymore, e.g. receive maternity clothes after you've had the baby.
very quick to sell and hook you in, but this company will not stop sending postal catalogues even when asked in writing and despite the assurances from their customer service team. the stuff they sell is alright but I do not want all that wasted paper clogging up my life especially since i only placed one order online. I don't know how to stop the deluge of post from them. have registered with the MPS and have waited 4 months for them to stop. won't ever order from them again.
I found Vertbaudet accidently when searching the net for some clothes for my daughter. I was sick of the same old clothes and wanted something different. I was really pleased with the clothes on sale, they are very different to anything you would normally get on the high street.
The company is a French run mail order company. It sells baby and older children's clothes, they also sell furniture and some toys. You can view the goods two ways either on line or you can request to have a catalogue sent out.
The site is well set out and broken down into the different clothing types eg boys/girls. Within each of the tabs it then is broken down into clothing type eg dresses/trousers etc. You can perform searches on the site in two ways either by looking through the clothes by type or you can put a code in if you know it.
When you order the clothes they are delivered directly to your address they normally get to you within 7 days. The delivery cost is £3.95 however sometimes they run special offers with free delivery.
The prices are average I would say but you do regularly get sent out offers such as 50% off your first item or £30 off an order over £80 etc. The offers are good so it is worth holding out till you receive one of these if there is something you really want.
There are 2 ways to pay either by card at the time of order or you can have a Vertbaudet account where you pay a set amount each month (you do pay interest by doing this approx 28% apr).
I have always found the clothes excellent quality and have been able to pass the clothes down to my younger daughter they are such good quality. The clothes are unique and very trendy. One thing I noticed is that the sizing is a bit different to how you would normally get clothes if you want the 9month size you would order 12 month because 12 month is age 9-12 months.
You can get bargains as they have a sale section so if you know what size your child will be in by next summer for example you can pick up some real bargains and then put them away till the following summer I have saved a fortune doing this.
I would definitely recommend using vertbaudet if you want on trend good quality clothing at bargain prices, just remember hold off ordering till you get that discount voucher, the longer you wait to place an order the better the offers get generally.
Ordered winter coat and socks for my son, after the 10 working days waiting period I called customer service and was told their system had accidentally cancelled my order & it wasn't my fault (duh) & had I noticed they hadn't taken the funds from my account! So I then purchased a winter coat from Mothercare. Then lo & behold a few days later the £50 charge from Vertbaudet had gone from my account & after calling them again discovered the goods were on their way :/ So now I've returned the goods and am on the phone to Vertbaudet AGAIN chasing up my money which has left me short at the end of the month & near Xmas too. NOT HAPPY and wouldn't touch Vertbaudet again!!!
In a girl's clothing market saturated with bright pink, sequins, glitter and tacky slogans, Vertbaudet's chic European style shines out like a bright fashion beacon.
Vertbaudet is a French mail order site selling baby's and children's clothes as well as maternity wear, items for children's bedrooms and nurseries and some toys.
It is possible to order items online from the website but Vertbaudet also sends out mail order catalogues from which you can order by post or telephone - a method which is dying out due to today's reliance on the internet and it is nice to see.
However, this review will focus on the website as this is where I did my ordering from.
The website is available at www.vertbaudet.co.uk. On first glance it is brightly coloured, well-organised, with clean lines and uncluttered. There is a simple drop down menu across the top of the screen dividing the products into different categories. These are Maternity, Newborn (which offers baby clothes from premature baby to three years), Baby Boy (from three months to three years), Baby Girl (from three months to three years), Girls (age two to 12 years), Boys (two to 12 years), Nursery (which includes equipment for bath times, changing, meal times and bedding) and Home Collection (featuring toy boxes, curtains, book cases, blinds and rugs).
The clothing is all reasonably priced. There is a special occasion section which is the pricier end, with dresses for around £25 and outfits of smart trousers and tops for around £30. The mid-range includes a host of everyday wear items from underwear and shoes to skirts, trousers, dresses and coats. You could pay anything from a few pounds for underwear to about £20 for a top and trouser or skirt combo.
There is also a cheaper 'mini price' range with basic t-shirts and trousers and so on for under £10 which is very useful for those on a budget or looking to stock up on a few more disposable items.
There is also a sale section which is worth checking out for more bargains.
Standard delivery on all items is £3.99 and Vertbaudet endeavour to deliver packages within five to ten days of ordering.
As already stated, you can order via the internet, by phone or post whether initially browsing the website or the catalogue. Vertbaudet also offers free returns.
Payment can be made by credit card or debit card online, or cheque by post. Giro bank transfers are also possible.
Alternatively you can set up a personal account and pay off your bill in monthly instalments. If you pay off your entire bill in the first month, you will not be charged any interest but otherwise the interest is 26.8 per cent APR.
I hadn't heard about Vertbaudet until I received one of their catalogues through the post. I'm not sure how they got my postal address but I have found since having a baby, which was over a year ago now, you find yourself receiving all sorts of baby-related paraphernalia through the post. Some of it is useful, other bits are immediately filed away - in the bin.
The Vertbaudet catalogue claimed my attention because of the introductory offer emblazoned across the front - £15 off your first order regardless of how much you spend, free delivery and a free gift of a wooden train.
My daughter was soon to move up to her next size in clothes so I thought it a perfect time to have a flick through the catalogue and see if there was anything worth buying as essentially I could get a whole outfit pretty much for free with a toy train thrown in.
I was impressed with the style and range of clothes on offer. They were completely different to anything you would get on the high street and had that French chic edge. There were some nice checked fabrics and pretty florals for girls which made a change from the bold block colours you find in most shops for babies and toddlers.
There was nothing garish about any of the clothes, with no slogan t-shirts or over-the-top glitter or sequins which I refuse to purchase for my daughter. I also try and shy away from overloading her wardrobe with pink and Vertbaudet had very little in the way of pink. The dominating colours seemed to be purples, reds, greens and whites. A far more tasteful and muted pallet. I also like the European touches on some of the outfits. Many of the trousers for girls were pantaloon -tyle, by which I mean baggy around the nappy area and tapering in to the ankle. There were also headscarves/headbands to go with a lot of the outfits which is ideal for summer.
I set out to buy one outfit so as not to go too far over the £15 limit for now but felt spoilt for choice. (I should point out this £15 offer only extended to a portion of the clothes on the website. To claim the offer you had to order clothes featured in the catalogue they had sent out which did not include everything they sold. Nevertheless there was still a lot to choose from as all the clothes were so appealing and unusual).
In the end I settled for a summer outfit of a check sleeveless blouse, purple trousers and a matching check headscarf costing £15 and a pair of floral trousers at £12 and a t-shirt and vest combo for £12. With £15 off I only had to fork out £24 which isn't bad for that little lot.
After ordering I had a browse at the Home Collection. They had some very unusual pieces such as a library-style book stand, little hat stands, sticker wall art and some lovely toy boxes and other storage solutions but a lot of it was pushing the £100 mark, a little expensive in contrast to the reasonably priced clothes and certainly too big and costly a purchase to be making without seeing the items in the flesh first. A shame really.
I was impressed with how quickly my order was delivered. I put in the order over the weekend and the clothes were delivered over the next week, on the Thursday afternoon I believe. The delivery took me a little by surprise as it was at an odd time of the day, about 3.30pm, but I was just impressed it had got to me so soon.
The items of clothing felt soft and good quality, while the wooden train was a lovely surprise. I hadn't expected too much from it, being a free gift, but it was well made with three wooden carriages onto which you slot three wooden animal figures, all pulled by a little string. My daughter immediately took to it, especially the little wooden animals.
I ordered clothes aged 12 to 18 months, ready for the summer with the aim my daughter, who was 11 months at the time of ordering, would be able to grow into them. I actually decided to keep them in the wardrobe for that month and I finally got them out the week of her first birthday. I wish I had got them out sooner as they fit my daughter straight away. She is quite chubby and tall for her age but even so I would have expected some room for growth as they are designed for children up to 18 months old. To compare, she received a pair of jeans from Mothercare for her birthday aged 12 to 18 months and they have inches of growth in the leg - they have to be turned up at the moment - and are baggy at the waist to the point they are only just staying up.
In hindsight I would have ordered the next size up from Vertbaudet.
The clothes have all washed well and I like the little details such as the little vest I ordered nips in at the waist rather than hanging straight down and the poppers on the t-shirt and trousers are smaller and more delicate than ordinary poppers.
The wooden train has met its end though after a month of being played with. Whether this is down to quality or my daughter's rough play I cannot be sure but the string has come off and one of the carriages has snapped in two. It splintered which is very dangerous.
I would order clothes from Vertbaudet again but would certainly buy a size bigger.
The only thing that is putting me off is since ordering I have been bombarded with emails with more offers of money off. Whilst this is very kind, it at the same time smacks of desperation. Going on the bit I do know about marketing, a company will generally only be so generous with offers if it is in substantial need of gaining customers. These emails have actually devalued the brand in my eyes.
Vertbaudet is an excellent mail order site for parents looking for good quality, unusual, stylish and chic clothing for their children but the sizing is not accurate and it is always worth buying a size up. While I do wonder how many customers re-order from Vertbaudet due to their persistence in sending out follow-up emails with discount offers.
AWFUL!! Stay away from them! Rubbish customer service! They promised me a free gift with my order and never sent it! I chased it up every week and the reply was coming weeks after saying that it is not in stock! It wasnt in stock when they offered it to me! No help at all, been waiting 5 months now! not even apologetic or anything! Never order from them!
Vertbaudet - tempting offers and delightful looking gifts for Christmas BUT..........like many "customers" my goods did not arrive - I gave them plenty of time as I ordered around Dec 2010 and thought the snow had prevented delivery but nothing came. Customer Services told me my Debit card was wrong and they had informed me of this by letter!! I find this hard to believe as the card has NEVER been refused and I got no letter. Now emails come constantly - and try clicking the 'Unsubscribe' button and, guess what? it never works!
The first time I tried to place an order with Vertbaudet I got a confirmation email saying my order had been placed. I waited for the goods, but they never arrived - so I phoned them (each phone call I was on hold for about 15 minutes before I managed to speak to anyone) and they said that there was a computer problem that day. I reordered - waited 10 days for the goods, only for ONE of my TWO items to be totally wrong!! Again I rang them (holding again!) and was told I had to send back the wrong item for it to be refunded, then reorder and pay for the correct item again!!! How ridiculous! I now have to wait another 10 days for the original blouse - a total of 30 days since my original order. They could not have cared less that I wasn't impressed with their service. I WOULD NOT USE THEM AGAIN!!! Their customer service and ordering is horrendous.
I really love vertbaudet the clothes are always excellent quality. You can feel the difference in the material and everything I buy from there washes well. They are slightly more expensive than high street stores but they outgrown before they wear out and my son doesn't grow fast and he is a typical boy so they are put through a tough time. My weakness is the homeware which although expensive is novel and cheerful. The furniture is easy to put up and is really strong my daughter likes nothing better than taking all the books of her bookshelf and sitting on it and it still looks as good as the day it was built. Another place to look is in the sale section as the sale prices are often very good and have up to 60% taken off when planning to redecorate my daughters bedroom I bought £180 of things for £80. and they are all lovely quality and unusual items.
The catalogue has lots of good offers and keeps you well informed by letter and email. They offer discounts a lot and often offer free delivery. They also offer a credit account so you can spread payments obviously the interest payments are 29.8 Apr but if you pay the item of in full at each statement no interest is added.
I first discovered Vertbaudet several years ago when pregnant with my first child. Although they have a standard catalogue, I have mainly used Vertbaudet online, which is where I signed up, quickly and easily.
Vertbaudet sells baby and children's clothes, maternity and nursing wear and nursery furniture and equipment.
The clothes are usually of a very good quality. I have several items of their maternity wear which have now seen me through 3 pregnancies and are still looking good. The styles are often classy, understated and traditional and you will always find outfits here that you will not find on the high street.
I have found the sizing for the baby clothes to be a little on the small size, so I now always buy one size up and have found the fit to be better. The baby clothes also wear and wash well and I have a number of Vertbaudet pieces that all 3 of my children have now worn, so I'm definitely getting my money's worth!
The homeware items are often quirky and unusual. If you are looking for some children's room design ideas this is definitely a good place to start.
Vertbaudet is sometimes a little pricey for my liking, but you will often find that they send you discount codes for 20 or 30% off, at which price the items are very reasonable. They also have regular sales where many things are 50% off or more, and again you can often find discount codes on various money saving websites that can still be used against sale items, making it easy to find even bigger bargains.
The delivery times can vary greatly. I've made some orders where one item has arrived in 2 days and the other items 3 weeks later. However, you are usually told the expected dispatch date at the time of ordering and if any delays are likely.
Overall I've found this to be a great shopping website and will be continuing to use it for as long as my kids fit into the gorgeous clothes!
My friends little girl had the most pretty little dress on the other day, when I asked where it was from she said Vertbaudet. I had never heard of them and so I signed up to receive their free catalogue. I think my friend got some money off vouchers for recommending me.
When the book arrived it came with a welcome offer which I thought was brilliant . You had to spend £20 and then you got a massive £15 off plus a free children's sleeping bag. Well I thought I had nothing to loose and so made myself a nice cuppa and sat down with the book and had a browse.
I have two children a little girl who is 10 and a little boy who is five. My daughter is starting to be very fashion conscious and knows exactly what she likes, which sadly for me is no longer pretty little dresses and skirts. My son will wear anything at all as long as its not pink, because that is for girls :-).
The main Vertbaudet collection goes from newborn to age twelve. There is a very small teenage section which is from age 12-16, this is quite limited though and mainly branded clothes.
The book is very clearly set out in specific age and gender sections which made is easy to find the pages you want.
I would say the overall theme for the clothes is trendy casual. All of the clothes have gorgeous detailing and little extras that make them different from the high street, such as tiny buttons and beautiful stitching.
Be careful when you are looking at the prices as they vary depending on size, this is a bit deceiving though as it has in big black writing £15 and then in tiny print next to it a little 'from'. They can vary quite a lot too, eg a lovely jacket I was looking at was £26 but when I looked for age 10 the price jumped up to £33, quite a big difference.
As I hadn't ordered before I didn't want to spend too much money so I settled on a pair of Jeans for my daughter, these cost £20 which is more than I would usually spend on some children's jeans but I had my introductory offer so they were only £5.
I decided to order online at vertbaudet.co.uk, you can fill in an order form and post it in a freepost envelope and you can also call them on 08448420000 it costs 5p per minute, but I find it much quicker and easier to use the website.
On the website I just searched the item code and the jeans came up, the picture quality is fantastic you can zoom and rotate and see the items in different colours. It tells you on line if the item is in stock and if it is not how long the wait will be.
You have to sign up to the website, this takes a few minutes but once it is done you can just log on with a password for future orders.
Delivery costs £3.99 and they say it can take up to ten working days, this is because most of the items come from France. There is no option for super speedy delivery so if you need something urgent this isn't the place for you.
I paid by my debit card but you can set up an account and pay monthly for your items, the interest is a whopping 29.8% APR so I would advise you to use this with caution.
In six days my jeans arrived, they were lovely and excellent quality, they had the inner elastic and buttons to adjust the waist and fitted my daughter perfectly. They had cost with postage £8.99 which I thought was great value but I don't think I would want to pay £23.99 for them.
Rubbish! Not only is delivery 10 days (10 days??!!) but the stock system can't tell whether things are or arent in stock ("it takes 48 hours to process the order so the stock situation changes". Please.) and worst of all they can't give you any idea about delivery ("even if we did ship it today and I can't tell if we will, I can't guarantee it will be there by Wednesday" Today is FRIDAY!) Don't go here unless you don't mind whether your children have outgrown the clothes before they arrive. Still don't know my "customer number" - where do i find that? Wasnt in the one email I've had.
I have been using Vertbaudet since my daughter was born 3/12 years ago. I have heard lots of bad reviews and opinions about them but I can honestly say that I have ordered from them quite a bit and have never had a problem.
You can shop online with Vertbaudet or through mail order with just a catalogue and snail mail. I have only ever shpped online but I would imagine that it would be pretty much the same.
So - what do they sell? Vertbaudet are a French company and been in France for over 40 years, and in Britain since 1997 and sell a wide range of maternity baby and childrens clothing right up to teens. They also sell some gorgeous nursey and childrens furniture items. Their range is quite different to anything you will see on the British high street which was my main reason for initially ordering from them as I was fed up with seeing all the kids round here dressed in the same stuff - round here we don't have any where decent to buy kids clothing, literally we have Next and a few cheap clothes shops.
So if you go to www.vertbaudet.co.uk you will arrive at their homepage. Have a look around the usual coupon sites hotdealsuk is a good one! as new customers generally can find a code for £15 off a £20 order or similar! Even existing customers can generally find a discount code so its worht having a look around even if it's just for a free delivery code as I hate paying £3.95 for delivery! There are also quite a few codes where you can also get a free gift with your order - most of the free gifts we've had ranging from baby laptops, kids cd players, kids cooking stuff and blankets have all been well used and are quite good considering we haven't paid for them. There is never a shortage of codes though they are regularly sent through the post and by email - of course you can opt out of that if you like!
Some codes though are not redeemable against stuff that is already in the sale which is fair enough or happy price items which is like their value range. The sales are generally pretty good as they are up to 70% off and regularly have them every few months - I use this as a chance to stock up. It's always worth trying a special offer code as occasionally they do work on sale items too!
The website is really easy to use - tabs at the top are arranged into boy/girl/teens/baby/maternity/nursery/home collection/sale - if you click the one you want to view it brings up lots of sub categories eg dresses, skirts, tops, underwear and accessories etc. If you have a catalogue though and know what you want already there is a quite order section where you just input the item numbers and it will save you browsing through it all.
Shop away as you would on any other site. Sizing does come up a bit smaller than most places though although they do have a size guide on there to check if it will fit your child. I always order a size bigger and its fine.
The clothes are lovely and generally of good/excellent quality. I've never had anythign that I am unhappy with. I've had a couple of things that have come up really small and just called customer services who arranged for a free return and exchange.
Sometimes things are out of stock as they can be with any shop online or offline but generally they let you know at the time of placing your order how many weeks wait you are likely to have. Occasionally they are uanble to get the item back so give you a discount off your next order.
Delivery can be a while though which I'd say is the only downside. They don't offer a next day delivery service and they do say that they aim to deliver within 5-10 working days but as their stuff comes from France sometimes it takes longer. I am aware of this when I'm ordering so don't wait till last minute before I order it! They have their own couriers who are part of the 'redcats' group I believe.
You can choose to pay at time of ordering by card or you can open a credit account and pay later - you have 14 days home approval before you are charged. If you open a credit account the apr is 28.9% but you can often get intrest free codes and buy now pay later codes too. You can also pay by card over the phone or send a cheque.
Overall I think this site is a must for any parent who want something a bit different for their kids to wear. Don't be put off from all ther people who have encountered problems - just I've had a very different experience!
You get what you pay for with Vertbaudet. It is cheap and cheerful and has some gorgeous items, especially childrens furniture, but the service leaves a lot to be desired.
I ordered some shelves for my daughters room recently and they took several weeks to arrive and when they did they were missing an essential screw to fit it to the wall. When I questioned it, I was told they could not supply the part seperately and that I would need to order some new shelves, wait for them to arrive, take the bit out and then return the shelves!
This is a big inconvenience and will probably lead to the next person who gets my returned shelves having the same problem.
Unfortunately this is not the first time I have had difficulties with this company.
Its not all bad though. The childrens bedding and furniture is very unusual and reasonally priced and the company does offer decent sales and loyalty discounts.
