While looking online for clothes for my son, I came across Verbaudet, which is a French mail order site. I was first attracted to it by the offers and discounts offered to first time customers.

The interface is very appealing; with bright colours and it has a professional look to it. It is very easy to navigate, and find what you are looking for. There are drop down tabs dividing the products into categories of:

~Maternity~ here you can find everything you need from tops and jeans, dresses, nightwear and even underwear.

~Newborn~ this section offers a good range of clothes from size tiny (for premature babies) right up to 3 years. Here you can find the cutest little bodysuits, outfits, nightwear, accessories and footwear.

~Baby boy~ Sizes ranging from 3months to 3 years, here you will find tops, trousers and jeans, outfits, to underwear night wear and shoes.

~Baby girl~ here you can find clothes ranging from 3months to 3 years with a nice choice of dresses, outfits, nightwear underwear and footwear.

~Girls~ offering clothes ranging from size 2 years to 11-12 years, here you can find a good selection of outfits, tops, jeans, underwear to sportswear.

~Boys~ again you find the clothes ranging in sizes from 2 years up to 11-12 years offering a good selection of shirts, jeans, dungarees, to swimwear and jackets.

~Nursery~ here you can find things for mealtimes (which I think are overpriced.) Bath time and changing where some things can be found cheaper elsewhere, but some things are unique to Vertbaudet. Early learning and bedtime only have a small choice of products in this section. Safety where you can find things such as carriers and sun glasses, and they have a really cute range of sleeping bags which are very good quality.

~Home collection~ they have some really nice storage solutions from toy boxes to lovely little decorated storage suitcases and book cases. Curtains, blinds, rugs, and a very small selection of toys. You can also find some unique tables and chairs for a little ones bedroom.

They quite often have a sale section where you can find some great bargains.

Being a first time customer they always offer some kind of discount on your first order like a generous £10 off. Each time I have ordered anything I have received discount vouchers with my order to use next time, and promotional codes for free delivery and a free toy on your next order, so you will always be tempted to shop again. I have had quite a few free toys from them and have been delighted with what we have had from shaper sorters to music players.

In the home collection you can find toys, furniture such as toy boxes and storage solutions, bathroom accessories, sleeping bags which are great quality, rugs, tables and chairs amongst other nursery accessories.

The clothes are different from what you will find in high street stores; they are quite funky and trendy. After shopping around baby shops and finding the choices and colours quite bland and boring, I found the clothes on here to be fresh and funky with bright bold vivid colours that are very stylish. They offer a good choice from newborn right up to teens. Their prices are reasonable, and they also have a selection of mini price clothes which offer very good value if you are on a tight budget without comprising quality.

I have ordered from this site a few times, and have been very happy with the clothes that I have received from them, they have been very good quality and they wash up well. However I have found their sizes to be quite small, when I placed my first order my son was 11 months old he is quite tall so I usually buy a bigger size, I had heard that Vertbaudet clothes are a bit on the small size and seeing that my son didn't need anything immediately I bought a pair of dungarees and opted to get the size for a 2 year old and much to my surprise they actually fitted him!. So I would advise buying the next size up to ensure they will fit.

On my first order I got a discount being a first time customer, and when my order arrived it came with a catalogue along with promotional money off codes for my next order. They seem to send out these promotional codes quite frequently some which give you a free toy, I have ordered several items from them and have never had to pay full price for anything yet, and I have also received a free gift with my last purchase which was a toy shape sorter which was rather nice and my son has enjoyed playing with it. It is quite good considering it was a free gift.

I really like the range of children's clothes they do, and my son has had a lot of wear out of the clothes and they have been very good quality. Once you are signed up with them it makes it very easy to place an order, and it is very tempting to want to keep going back to buy more with the promotional codes that are given with each order.

They claim that their delivery is between 5 - 10 days, and returns are free which is good as their sizing is a little different. The delivery charge is £3.99- although I have never paid for delivery as I have always had a discount code.

This online shop sounds good so far, but the only problem is the delivery is awful! I was very disappointed with this part of the service; I was expecting it to be better. The items I ordered showed to be in stock on the website so I expected them to be with me within the week.

However I was waiting for well over two weeks for my order, and when it arrived I was not home, I found a card in my letterbox saying that it was in my bin! I was not too pleased about this; I didn't think this was very hygienic to have to go through my bin to look for new clothes that I had bought for my son. I also found this to be unprofessional. If anyone had taken the items from my bin, then I would have had no proof that I didn't receive the items. (My garden is not enclosed and sometimes the bin men will collect my bin from my garden to empty it, if I haven't put it out for collection, so I was lucky it didn't get taken with the bin men!)

Also they deliver at unusual times; they have brought things later in the evening at around 8pm which I thought was rather odd.

This is a shame that the delivery is a bit of a letdown, because everything else I have been happy with. This does put me off a bit, because sometimes if I'm looking for a new outfit for my son it could be for a special occasion and I wouldn't want to order from them in fear that it wouldn't be here in time.

I have still continued to order from them, from time to time, but instead of having the items delivered to my home address I now have them delivered to my partner's work address to reduce the risk of another bin incident occurring.

I would recommend the site to anyone looking for something a bit different, just bare in mind that you could have a while to wait for delivery.
