So, what were they going to do about it? Make me trek into town to get my money back. Wonderful. So, into town I went and was told that they couldn't cancel teh order because they'd disconnected the store from the mainframe. But i could have my money back anyway. Great. So, money in hand, off I went. A week or so later, I happened to be near another store, and went in to buy my preorder copy off the shelf. So, had it in my hand and went to pay. Then noticed it was cheaper than I'd payed. So, at... more

Virgin, to me, used to be a more expensive version of HMV. Now, after a recent experience with them I can understand why they're shutting stores down. I went into the local store to pre-order the latest nightwish album, and was told i'd have it less than a week after release. Great! Paid my fees and waited for the "come and get it" phonecall. Last year in Milton Keynes we had a new part built onto our already existing super shopping centre. The old shopping centre had most high street names, but the new part now has even more. In the new part of the centre we have a Virgin store. The shop is very clean, bright, plays good music and offers a BIG selection of CD's, Videos, Accessories, and much more and they have an excellent advertisement scheme ‘Whatever turns you on’. I just love that. I was very impressed by the shop, its open, not crammed in and you have room to breath and not feel pressurized into buying stuff as you walk past it. The layout is good, it has an upstairs, and they ...  Read the complete review

I wasn't blessed with a Virgin Megastore until recently, and I love it!! I was amazed at the size of the shop when I first entered about a year ago. It was so massive, I had difficulty viewing the back wall! Everywhere were neat rows of CDs, Videos, DVDs, EVERYTHING!! Like most music shops, you are given one of those wall-personal-stereo machines, but none as great as these! They're silver with an easy to read blue screen which allows you to play a variety of CDs, by placing your desired album case barcode under an infra red 'eye'. There is also a section in the shop containing computers where you are allowed to search for music ...  Read the complete review

As most people know Virgin was a business created by a young Richard Branson. It has grown since back then from one little record shop to a world wide business that has expanded and on of the branches it has gone out to is retail and in particular a big name in music and digital entertainment. I live near the member known as Jonny Crossdresser so i visit the same store but unlike Jonny i have been to many other different stores because i am originally from London which probably has all the record shops you can think of!Twice! The store is in a place called Crewe and it is one of the bigger attractions in the town and it is not hared to miss. The store ...  Read the complete review

And I just keep going back for more! In my view, Virgin Megastores are about the best there is on offer. There is no HMV or the like in my area, so Virgin is all I've really experienced, and that’s not a bad thing. The store in Crewe is quite small compared to those that I have been in located in cities. In only has one level, but is very deep and accommodates all of the merchandise you would expect in any Virgin store. Navigation around the place is easy enough; new releases ahead of you as you enter, singles down the right aisle of the shop with the chart against the wall and the albums chart next to it. The far left aisle ...  Read the complete review
