Waterstone's

Newest Review: ... but visited Waterstones and got it there. If you have never been to Waterstones, it is a book specialist with over 300 stores and was established as far back as 1982. It has over 4,500 employees and serves mainly the UK. The nearest Waterstones to my home is the one in Belfasts city centre. It is very posh and well laid out looking from the outside. It has rows of bestsellers at the front door and on the second floor even has a small coffee shop on it. I like the bookshop in general and have only bought a few books from it but i think it is very overpriced and expensive. Most of the books i buy at the moment are from charity shop... more

I am a total bookworm and reading is definitely one of my favourite hobbies. For me, theres nothing better than sitting in warm pyjamas with a hot chocolate beside me reading a really good book. I discovered Waterstones about four or five years ago when i asked a friend what he wanted for his birthday and he told me a specific book. I didnt have time to order it off the internet but visited Waterstones and got it there. If you have never been to Waterstones, it is a book specialist with over 300 stores and was established as far back as 1982. It has over 4,500 employees and serves mainly the UK. I am a big book fan and enjoy reading. However I have had so many issues with Waterstone's On-line it is no-longer funny. I have ordered books on-line and checked that items have been in stock and check the order via the website only to find it is no-longer in stock. Don't trust the stock levels on the site. Also had a few issues with them taking payments before the order has been dispatched, which they say they don't do but then they check the records and fine that they have. Don't try and get the money refunded because that another total waste of time and effort. There customer service stock phase is they "will refer it to head office" ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Waterstone's: The best bookstore on the highstreet (295 words)

I have always been a massive fan of books and as I have a 2 hour commute each day I enjoy having a good book with me at all times so having a great bookshop to pick up new titles is something I am delighted to say I have now found. I work in Glasgow and found that there are a couple of Waterstones stores in the city centre and I have had the pleasure of shopping in both of these stores and found both of them to be excellently laid out, bright and inviting and with an amazing selection of books (crime, fiction, non fiction, self help, true crime, fantasy, science fiction, horror, etc) and regular offers such as 3 for 2 in store. So why choose to shop in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review First point of call for books and author events (845 words)

I used to avoid the big chain stores in favour of supporting local independent book stores that were struggling to stay afloat. I do still support them but I've also accepted Waterstones into my life too and I'm a happier soul for doing so! As well as having great offers on their books they also have a lot of great in store events too. I think it probably depends upon the stores location as to how many events they actually hold but I live in Liverpool City Centre and so we get quite a lot here. Since living here I went to meet the author Sarah Waters who my wife is a big fan of. She spoke to us for about an hour about her work before signing ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Waterstone's: Wat er store!!!!! (708 words)

Throughout my childhood I was bought up with books and the importance of reading being drummed into me. As a result I have a life-long love of books of many types and varieties and I love having nice books out on display in a case for people to pick up and look through. Even today my favoured method of relaxing is to curl up with a book and a cup of tea. I have frequently been known, on a day where I have nought else to do (very rare nowadays!) to read a book cover to cover in one sitting. The BBC Wildlife photography competition books are my absolute favourite and the Terry Pratchett "police" books come very high up my list of favoured reads. I had a ...  Read the complete review
