What! Is a huge discount shop on Newport Road in Cardiff. It is on the main stretch of large stores like Matalan and Homebase. I believe they have these stores in other towns and cities but I have only visited this one.

What! is fantastic! I stumbled upon it by accident when I was looking for a rug. The side of the building had a list of things that are sold in huge letters that you can see from the road and 'rugs' was on the list. It seemed slightly obscure because there was a very large variety of things on the list and none of it seemed to go together (rugs, kitchen ware, tools, food, stationary) but I thought I'd give it a go.

It is a bit of a jumble sale inside but that is part of it's appeal. You can spend ages in their rummaging around and finding all sorts of treasures! I didn't buy a rug but I bought lots of other things and have been back lots since. It just seems to have anything you can think of. If I'm wondering where I might be able to get something, What! is the place.

Apart from being able to get a wide range of things, the best bit is that it is so unbelievably cheap! On my last visit I bought a giant canvas for £3 and a packet of paint brushes for £1.20, a 200 sleeve photo album for £3, a lovely big saucepan for £5 and a hammer for £1. As you can see I tend to get carried away in there!

It's also great for craft materials. There are loads of cheap card making items, beads and paper. There are also lots of little craft projects for kids which make great presents.

Overall, a fantastic shop. Shop 'till you drop and still have money in your pocket!
