WickesNewest Review: ... designer who came to see me was Steve who having listened to what I wanted designed me such a lovely kitchen. When I returned to the store to discuss the plan, it was alot more expensive than I thought. As it had been the 'great giveaway' when he came to my house and now the 'sale' when I went into the store, this gave me more negotiation. I managed to get the sale prices but combined the 'great giveaway' interest free offer and got 12 months interest free credit (would have been 24 months interest free had my spend been over £3000), my spend was just under at £2400. Delivery was all sorted and I was sent a text the day before confirmi... more |

New Wickes Heritage Grey Kitchen: Lovely kitchen, good value - installation awful. One month after the agreed installation date we are missing : 1 wall unit (won't fit and damaged by fitter), 1 base unit (failed QA!), cornicing (won't fit), holes for pipes for dishwasher and sink, kick boards, glass shevling, lighting, and compensation!

Just bought a Wickes Heritage Grey kitchen from Wickes Woking. Absolute disaster - 1 month after it was supposed to be fitted we have: a missing wall unit (my fitted kitchen didn't all fit!) a missing base unit (failed QA!), no cornicing (didn't measure-up properly!), a broken wall unit ("fell over in the wind" ..right!), no kickboards, no shelving, no plumbed in appliances, no holes to plumb them in ourselves ... and no apology or compensation.

Once upon a time the choices available for places to buy DIY goods was almost more than anyone could want. Nowadays the market has shrunk significantly and it's hard to know why. Why can the likes of B&Q go from strength to strength whilst Texas vanishes from sight? I've already written a review of Focus DIY and my analysis of their business model suggested to me that they really don't have a clue. Only B&Q and Homebase seem to understand their market, as is confirmed by their seeming continued prosperity. And then there's Wickes. Now, I have to admit that I rarely visit Wickes, which is a surprise because when I have my experiences there have ... Read the complete review

Wickes is a large DIY store. It stocks everything from odd bits like door handles, paint, light fittings and screws to kitchen and bathroom suites. It is the best place in our area for getting the best balance between cheap vs. quality, and as such a lot of small businesses in our area use Wickes for purchasing materials. I have been to Wickes many times as I love DIY and am always redoing the house. I have to say that most of the staff are pretty friendly, although you always get the odd idiot wherever you go! There are normally various leaflets and booklets near the entrance that guide you through some DIY jobs. I have found these quite helpful ... Read the complete review
