Woolworths is one of many big name shops that can be found in most towns or cities in the UK. If you haven't been to Woolworths before, it is a shop that is quite similar to supermarkets, in that it sells many different types of goods, but the stores are not nearly as big.

These include stuff like CD's, DVD's and Videos, clothes (mostly children's clothes), sweets and chocolate, toys, gifts for people, newspapers and magazines, birthday cards, stationary, household products, Computer Games, and even more products again! Not to mention all the Christmas goods and Easter eggs they stock at those times of the year! However, unlike most supermarkets, they do not stock *everything* you could want in one store alone.

There are numerous branches of Woolworths shops in the region where I live, as well as most parts of the UK, including a branch in my own town that I regularly use and shop in. Woolworths is a handy shop to go in if you want something like a CD or DVD, but they do tend to charge a little bit more for these items, that are usually sold a few pounds cheaper elsewhere like on the internet.

Sweets and chocolate are stuff I occasionally buy from Woolworths too, but they don't seem to stock as big a variety of chocolate as they used to, and again it can be bought cheaper from other places like convenience stores. The same goes for newspapers and magazines, as there used to be a wider selection available in my local Woolworths, but now it seems to only stock the more popular ones.

The range of CD's available is also not too bad overall, and Woolworths do sell both Single and Album releases; but again, this is usually restricted to more popular and recent stuff like Top 40 chart releases, rather than older releases. They also have a chart of the current releases available in the music/entertainment section, which is handy, whilst older Album releases are generally to be found in other nearby shelves.

Near to the CD section is the other entertainment goods such as Computer Games and DVD's/Videos, which again are sometimes laid out in a chart of most popular or biggest selling in each category. They also sometimes have reduced price items or products on sale of all of the above, which can be bought for about half the price normally, which is very handy and you can find some good purchases if you're lucky.

The rest of the store is also laid out in aisles with each one stocking different kinds of items. My local store was recently refurbished inside, and looks more contemporary inside, but now it isn't always easy to find exactly what you're looking for. Service is generally pretty good, the staff are quite helpful and I haven't ever spent ages queuing to pay for my purchases in any Woolworths I have shopped in.

I have also bought a wide variety of stuff from Woolworths over the years and have been generally satisfied with what I've bought, although some household or electrical goods aren't always as good quality compared to other specialist stores that stock the same items.

Overall, I do enjoy shopping in Woolworths and find it a satisfactory place to buy lots of different goods, and it is usually a popular place to shop, although it can get busy at certain times. I have found that some items Woolworths sell are not brilliant quality or are maybe a little more expensive and could be bought cheaper in other stores, but overall I would recommend Woolworths to most people as a good place to shop, where you can sometimes pick up a bargain.
