Advantages: You could get anything from Woolies

Disadvantages: None in my opinion

What sad news that 99 year old Woolworths with some 815 stores in the UK has gone into administration and the possibility of 30,000 jobs at risk - just before Christmas. I can't believe that it has £385 million debt .

This news has really saddened me .... I can remember Woolworths from my childhood (and that is a long time ago let me tell you!) with its old wooden floors. My mum used to take me in to choose some sweets after I had been to the dentist..ironic I know..

Woolworths was always the place where teenagers went to do a bit of shoplifting - it was so easy in there in the old days - before the advent of CCTV... I hasten to add, though, I did not partake in this past-time!

It seems that Woolworths very eclectic mix of goods has lead to its downfall... If it does go completely I will really, really miss it. Woolworths was always the place where you could find something you could not find anywhere else...

Summary: A great store

Yes. I know what you mean. Sad, but I thought it would happen years ago.
