Advantages: None.
Disadvantages: Everyone is going to be out of a job.
I just recently heard that Woolworths is going into administration, and what a time of year for this to happen.
Not only does this mean that people who normally shop there will no longer be able to, but people who work there are not going to have a job. Its hard enough to lose your job, but at Christmas it bound to be 10 times harder.
I find this a real shock that Woolworths are closing. I always though that Woolworths did really well, and they never seemed to struggle to get the customers through the door. The prices of their stock were always really competitive when you compare them with companies like HMV and Whsmith. I always found that the stock levels that Woolwoths kept was really good too, I hardly ever had to wait for something that I wanted to come back into stock.
The staff were always really helpful too, and I liked the fact that if you wanted to order something from the DVD and music section you could have it sent to your home free of charge, a lot of other shops would charge you for that.
There is one thing that I am not sure of though, if anyone has purchased Gift vouchers from Woolworths I am not sure if you take them back if they will refund the money form them of if you will loose out on the money that you have paid, if it was me I would take them back and try to get my money back. If you don't try you will never know.
So to summarise, there will be no more Woolworths shops soon and a lot of people are losing their jobs, at a really difficult time of the year, please spare a thought for them.
Summary: Woolworths are closing, and alot of people are losing their jobs.
