Advantages: A sale before christmas which has saved me a lot of money!
Disadvantages: People losing there jobs, a well know childhood shop vanishing!
Well it is very unfortunate but Woolworths have gone into administration. To be honest the competition is too tough with online shopping being so cheap and easy. I have not bought much in Woolworths this year most of my shopping is now done online.
A friend told me on Thursday that something was happening in Woolworths on Friday the 5th December some sort of price reduction. I happened to be going Christmas shopping in Bristol that day so I popped to Big W (huge Woolworths) first to check out the offers! I have since hear a lot of negative comments on the sale as it was meant to be 50% off and a lot of people were grumbling that is was not everything in the offer.
Woolworths was heaving that day there were no trolleys or baskets but I braved it anyway and came out having spent £63 and completely filled the boot of my car! Some of the great offers I bought were a £50 dolls set which I paid £8.80!! This was mamas and papas and a very nice set. I admit there was not 50% off much but there was 30% off loads of items and 10% off many things!
I know it is sad Woolworths are (possibly) closing forever and many people will be out of jobs, which is very sad, but in the currant climate on my income I have made the most of the misfortune that Woolworths is suffering.
I have grown up with Woolworths in my life and will miss the shop but to be honest the layout is terrible the queues are always long and slow and the items in there can be bought cheaper online so I have not supported them recently. I don't think the problems Woolworths are in is due to the fact they sell all sorts rather than being specialist as that is what I do like about Woolworths the fact you can get such a variety of items.
I will miss Woolworths just because it is a shop that I am used to seeing but I think I will cope fine without them. I am worried about the influence the sale in Woolworths will have on other shops, as after buying so many cheap items in Woolworths I have been to return items to whsmiths and Argos, as they were cheaper in the Woolworths sale.
Who will be next to close forever?
Summary: Bye woolworths .... Who's going next? The sale has stole other shops trade!
