Advantages: cheap art paint

Disadvantages: no room to browse, always full, very expensive bargains

The Works is basically a bargain basement bookshop .... although I'm always surprised at how much some of these 'bargains' cost! Not only can you buy books from here though, but art equipment, posters, frames, kiddies' accessories and other bits and bobs.

I have bought books from this shop on occasion; health or craft books but as I say some of the prices are a bit on the steep side. The shop in Wakefield, which is the one I visit is usually absolutely full to bursting with customers. This is because not only are the books displayed around the walls but on great bigh tables all around the shop, therefore there is hardly any room for manoeuvre anyway! This means that shopping at the Works is not exactly a pleasurable experience; you walk round knocking books off piles and bottles of paint off displays as you browse. Particularly if you have shopping bags with you.

Therefore not one of those 'must visit' shops but one which you end up popping into if you are passing.
