In essence, 'Oranges Wednesdays' allows the consumer to buy cinema tickets - 2 for the price of 1, the promotion is only valid on a Wednesday. The offer also extends to buying 2 pizzas for the price of 1 at participating outlets.


What do I think?

I think this is great as I am an absolute film buff and love going to the cinema. Ticket prices have soared and this promotion really helps to save a few extra pounds.

Only customers of Orange can receive this offer, as you need one of their phones or have one of their accounts for broadband or other products to be able to get access to the promotional code. I usually go through my phone to retrieve the promotional code - I send a text and Orange immediately sends a promotional code back. Orange will then charge you for the texts sent and received, therefore it's important that you send a text back asking them to stop any follow up texts. The messages will advise you on how to do this before they send you anymore texts. I think it is also possible to access the promotional code by phoning them up or via your online account, though I have never done it through these methods before.

Once you have accessed the promotional code, you must remember to keep hold of it, print it out or save it in a form where you can show the cinema staff. Just explain to the ticket staff that you have this code and they will sort it out from there.

As far as I am aware the only local cinema that takes part in this promotion with Orange is MyVue cinemas, I know that Odeon definitely does not do this. Unfortunately, they only allow 2 for 1 ticket per phone/account per week. I have tried to text for another promotional code so that we could watch more than on film at the promotional price and it does not allow this (!)

Brilliant for saving a few pounds in the pocket, but that's if you don't end up spending the saved money on ice-cream and pop-corn!
