Advantages: Good selection, cheap
Disadvantages: None
Tesco seem to be slowly taking over the world! I discovered their DVD rental about a year ago and have been very impressed with the service. I was a bit wary to start with as I had heard of DVDs mysteriously going missing in the post from friends who were convinced that their postman had a very good DVD collection! I guess I am one of the lucky ones and have not had this happen to me.
**How does it work?**
Once you have registered online you will be able to choose from over 50,000 selections including DVDs and games.
When you have made you selections your disc or discs (depending on your subscription package) they will be posted free to you.
When you have finished watching the film simply place in the pre-paid envelope and post back to Tesco. Once Tesco have received the disc they will then post another one to you from your selected list.
**Subscription packages**
There are many different packages to choose from dependant on your budget and requirements.
Their cheapest package available is £3.88 a month. This entitles you to two DVD rentals per month, one disc at home at a time and free second class postage each way.
Their most expensive package is £17.59 a month. This will give you unlimited DVD and game rentals, 3 discs at home at any one time and free first class postage each way.
There are various different packages in between these two extremes. It all really depends on how many films and games you want to have at home at one time and how many you want each month.
**Site layout**
You can search foe DVD by various options by a menu on the left hand side of the home page. You can select by new releases, top rates or by genre. The films are listed with a brief description and a star and percentage rating based on customers feed back of the film. You can also search games by console.
Once you have selected all your discs they will then be put in to your rental queue. You can prioritise your selections as high, medium or low depending on which discs you want to receive first. You can also add discs that have not yet been released so you are at the front of the queue when they become available.
**Summary**
I have found the service to be very good with Tesco. Once you return a disc you usually get another one within three days. I had one disc that didn't work once and they replaced it straight away and gave me another free rental. The customer service is very good.
I think that this is the best way to rent DVDs and also the cheapest. If you go for the cheapest option it only works out at £1.94 per rental, a lot cheaper than the likes of Blockbuster!
There are no late fees either which is great, no more rushing around or forgetting to return a disc and getting fined for it! There are no contracts either and you can cancel your subscription at any time.
If you have a Tesco Clubcard you also earn points by using this website to rent your films and games. They soon add up!
Summary: Tesco strike gold again!

- 19/12/08 I was a member of this dvd rental service but left due to their "family friendly" policies that meant that they didnt' have a gay category like the other dvd rental services but did have a horror section.
