Advantages: Quick postage, good range and collection of dvds, great service
Disadvantages: dvds can by of poor quality sometimes, but please flag this to tesco!
I have now been using Tesco DVD rental for about 2 years now. It is provided by LoveFilm! It is one of the best things I have tried. The way it works is, you sign up for a free trial for 30 days on Tesco's website, if you like it you can keep it and if you don't you can cancel within this period and you will not be charged.
You can maintain a "Wishlist" of the movies you would like to watch and you can also set priorities to these movies. You can rate all the movies you have watched and the website will recommend movies based on your previous ratings. This is very helpful especially when you have no idea what you want to watch.
The dvds are sent by first class post and are returned by you using freepost first class post, costing you nothing above your membership charges.
Initially, the quality of the dvds were very good, they would be set to the start of the movie and I was easily watching 2 movies a week, sometime even 3 if Royal Mail don't mess anything up.
Lately, I see a steady decline in the quality of dvds, they seem to have a lot of scratches and never play from the start. I have been frustrated with this and have tried Blockbuster under their free trial (will explain in detail in another review) but it was not good enough for me to change.
After raising my concerns with Tesco, they apologised and since them the quality of the dvds has vastly improved. The movies are also made available very quickly. As soon as the dvd for the movie is out, they are available for rent.
Lastly, you also earn clubcard points on your subscription.
Great service and I am keeping this for the short term future!
Summary: Make the most of it - It is simply amazing!
