Me? All of the above...Step forward Tesco DVD rental!

Somebody pointed me to a website where I could get a 3 month free trial for the site, 3 months rentals for free! How could I resist? - So I signed up and have continued my membership for the past few months.

THE GOOD
=======
- No Late Fee's, return the DVD when you want.
- Huge selection, I haven't come across a film that I couldn't order.
- Great value for money, it's cheaper than purchasing a blu ray movie.
- Able to preorder, add's title to your list automatically.

THE BAD
======
- The basic packages are basic in value and content.
- Shipping on new releases isn't fantastic, you can be waiting up to a month for newer titles.
- Not eay to navigate around the site for novice's.

What is it?

The site is controlled by lovefilm.com, the biggest UK online rental store. It goes under the name of Tesco DVD rental but when your disc's arrive they have lovefilm stickers on them. The site works like a giant rental shop, you have different categories and can add loads of titles to a wish list, the system then picks a title for you from your list and dispatches them direct to your door through 1st class post. When you have finished with the disc post it back through your local post box in the prepaid envelope supplied.

What can I rent?

It all depends on the package you choose. The basic package for example cost's £3.88 a month, that allows you 2 DVD's every 28 days. The top package cost's £17.59 this includes DVD, Blu Ray, HD DVD and game's rentals. The website carries 56,000 DVD films. I haven't come across a film I wanted to rent and that was not available. The blu ray list is equally impressive, it seems to have every UK release as does the gaming section.

How much is it?

Every package comes with a trial period for free, you can cancel once all your disc's are returned just by going to your account details. I'm sure you will love it and continue once the trial expires. Once you start paying it works out as follows...

The basic packages just allow you 2,3 or 4 rentals a month. The unlimited packages allow you as many titles you wish within the month. The amount of discs you can have at home at any one time is dependant on your package.

What package to go for?

I have the 2 disc DVD & game package. This allows me a choice of anything from DVD's to blu rays to games. Also because I have 2 discs at any time I watch a film on the Monday and then post it back the next morning. Watch the other film on Thursday and post it Friday morning. Then by Monday I usually have my next title through my door and the process continues like so.
What package I would recommend depends entirely on your circumstance, I would say to stay clear of the basic packages as you are tied down to a small amount of rentals and doesn't work at great value. Stick to a 1 or 2 disc unlimited package, the 3 title package is a bit overkill! - Do remember the "DVD package's" are purely DVD's. The "DVD & Game's package's" allow the use of games and blu ray's.

Great value for money and an excellent product range. Nothing more you could ask for really. Also you can earn clubcard points which is a bonus!
