Advantages: Wide array of products..
Disadvantages: Financial Department aren't up to scratch..
So when it comes to buy CD's, books and pretty much anything you are looking for, you tend to think of a few main online sites, and for most Amazon.co.uk is one of the first on the list.. Well .co.uk for us Brits and .com I think for and Americans on here!
For a little while Amazon.co.uk was probably my favourite site to buy products from because the majority of the time some of the products you can find on there are quite expensive elsewhere.. However recently things have changed..
For the majority Amazon is easy, you sign up with a few basic details which are protected and safe from prying eyes of course as no-one would ever buy from them! Add your name, address, date of birth, and of course those all important bank details.. Whilst your there you can also set up a wish list that you can browse the site and add different items to, so when you can afford them it is easy to pick them off your list instead of going through the whole site looking for them.. Also you can arrange different items that the site suggests to you if you click on a little box which says you own this product.. Though some times that is not the nicest thing if you do not select them not to e-mail you every time they have a new product they think you would like..
Delivery is somewhat of a mystery sometimes, there are a number of different options to chose from..
Amazon Prime - For an annual fee of £47.97 you can get free one day delivery, upgrades to different delivery for lower prices..
Express Delivery - For £8.80 you can get a guaranteed delivery date..
First Class Delivery - Charged for delivery cost depends on the item..
Free Super-Saver Delivery - Eligible items for this delivery will not be charged but items will be delivered 2-4 days later than first class delivery..
Evening Delivery - For £14.67 you can have your item delivered in the evening..
The products you can get fall into a number of categories, such as music, books and electronics, but to be honest there are so many things you can get on the site it is pretty much possible to get whatever you like.. However it does seem today to be a site that is becoming somewhat like eBay, as it has a market place where you can buy your items from a company using Amazon as a base. That is not always the best idea as many don't give their feedback if someone buys from them, so you cannot tell if the seller is any good.. I think I'll stick with eBay for that kind of purchase I think for the near future..

So we all have issues with certain shops or websites but just recently Amazon has been a big pain in the proverbial backside..
In the past year I have had to send many e-mails of complaint because they, despite being a large company, have people running the financial situation very well..
My two biggest problems with Amazon have been to do with money..
1st complaint.. I bought a couple of things including my lovely straighteners, because they were cheaper there than anywhere else.. Payment went out fine, not a problem.. Well not a problem for then at least because they took the cash twice, so an account that had just enough for the items was charged twice and put into the RED.. My bank wasn't a happy one..
What did they do about it?
Well they apologised profusely and then refunded me.. Still leaving me with unnecessary bank charges!
This happened three times last year.. I was beginning to give up hope with the site but I thought I would persevere because the products tended to be cheaper.. That was until Christmas of 2008, I have actually had enough now..
The company offered a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, fair enough.. I took them up on their offer and low and behold come pay day I spot £47.97 missing from my account..? Where on earth had that gone I wondered? Took a look at my bank statement and there was my missing money.. In the bank account of Amazon.. For something which said I didn't have to take out a year subscription (I did check the small print and it never mentioned this!!!!) so I was a little peeved..
What did they do about it?
I complained again.. (I'm getting sick of this lol) They refunded my cash but explained that they assumed I would want to upgrade my membership.. Haha they wish.. They have promised now to put something in the small print about the membership upgrade.. So hopefully no-one else will have to put up with this..

So providing you are lucky enough not to get over charged or be taken for a mug Amazon.co.uk is a good site, with varying products, but I would recommend, if you only buy the products using Amazon vouchers from your Dooyoo miles, I'd suggest not putting any bank details in.. It only causes problems!
Summary: I won't be putting my bank details in there again..

- 19/02/09 I love Amazon most of the time, in the years and dozens and dozens of times that I've used them they've only let me down twice so I guess I can forgive them... x |
