Advantages: Loads and loads of products
Disadvantages: Delivery can be expensive
Amazon is the grandfather of Internet shopping - it seems like it's been around since the dawn of time. That's not a bad thing, but it's not necessarily a good thing either.
Amazon is a great website and sells an absolutely massive range of products from their traditional market of books, CDs and DVDs to clothing, kitchen equipment and baby stuff - it's kind of like an online department store, which unfortunately makes things a little messy.
You can get lost in the sheer number of products that Amazon sells now - and the design of the site isn't the best that I've ever seen (it's not as nice as Play.com or HMV). Strangely Amazon also has ads for other services such as web hosting... I can't understand an e-commerce site using advertising and taking potential customers away.
Delivery isn't free like it is on Play and HMV, you have to pay for it. When others are doing it free, why can't Amazon? Alright, you can have 'Super Saver' delivery if you spend over £5 but would it really make that much difference to Amazon to send everything for free?
My last gripe is the amount of email that they send you - I get tonnes of the stuff! Order one book by one author and you'll be emailed for every subsequent release/sale on that author's books! This can get a bit annoying!
This sounds like quite a negative review, but don't get me wrong - Amazon is a good place to shop and has a great range of products at good prices. You can sell your unwanted items in the Amazon Marketplace and earn referral money by advertising their products on your website using Amazon Associates... it's just, in my opinion... it's not as good as Play.com
Summary: Plenty of stuff to buy
