Advantages: Great customer service, some good deals.

Amazon.co.uk is the uk's favorite music and video retailer, and 3rd favorite overall (Source: Verdict research). Named after the words biggest river, Amazon was launched online in 1995. Begining as a book store, it now sells most things, from Ipods to films.

Generally, you will find what you are looking for on amazon. But the problem is, most of the time, you will find what you are looking for cheaper somewhere else. However, amazon can have some really great deals. I saw a film in town that i wanted for £20. Forget that. I looked on amazon, and its £3.94 (Film is xXx, with vin diesal if you want to check). I have also found some great offers on books I have wanted. Rarely will amazon sell a book for full RRP. And if you are buying a few items, it is easyer to use one shop, and generally, amazon does have quite good deals on everything.

The postage however, is poor. With the standered delivery (Normally free with books and dvds)Many times I order a item that should get here within about 5 days, to find it gets sent out a day later, and then they forgot to send it? I recentally ordered a book that I wanted for my holiday, now due to amazon not processing my order, It will now come when i am 360 miles away in scotland. And even if your item does come on time, prepare to wait 3-5 days if they are on time with free postage. I would just reccommend paying the extra money and going first class. With very big items, they will require a seperate courier for free, and the courier will give you a ring. This is more for TV's and things however. Any item costing over 150gpb will require a signature however, so just keep that in mind.

Amazon does have some useful features however. If you look at a few books of one type, when you next go to amazon, it will tell you items you might also want to look into. Also, when looking at a item, it shows you how many people who looked at this and brought a book after brought that book.

I would reccommend Amazon, just I urge you to take a look around first. And remember that sometimes the service might be a bit iffy, and your items may not come on time. But if you need to refund a item, or send one back, May I say I have never ever had a problem with there customer service, who are great.

Summary: A great all-round online shop, just watch out for the postage.
