Advantages: Cheap Prices, Wide Range, Quick Delivery
Disadvantages: N/A
Amazon was founded back in 1994 and has become one of the biggest and most well known retailers of modern times. This is mainly due to it offering one of the widest selections of products available online and many of them are at very reasonable prices as well.
I tend to use Amazon for my purchasing of cds, they have an extremely large catalogue and this is perfect for finding copies of older cds, or cds of artists who aren't so popular in the UK. In particular I've managed to pick up some bargain cds like Fountains Of Wayne for only £2.50. These are the kind of deals that keep me coming back to Amazon. Similarly their deals on video games are also very good. I've picked up many titles for my Wii and DS e.g. Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars, for under £15 when many high street retailers are charging £30.
As well as being able to purchase items directly through Amazon they also offer other shops or individuals the chance to sell the same products but at their own price. Many individuals sell their games second hand online which will enable you to make further savings on your purchases.
Delivery wise Amazon have always been really quick for me and nearly always arrive before the estimated delivery day which is very impressive. Delivery is also free if you spend £15 or more at one go.
One of Amazon's latest additions to its site is the ability to download music directly from the site. The mp3s are very well priced and they offer a selection of free ones every week. The normal price starts from 29p which is very cheap and they also do special promotions where you can get the latest chart albums for around £5.
Overall I've always been very impressed with Amazon's service and feel that they are very easy to deal with, the prices are reasonable and their product range is phenomenal. If you're looking for somewhere to shop for Christmas, look no further!
Summary: An excellent online retailer!

- 22/09/09 Think it's a £5 spend for free delivery now (or was a couple of months back) - if so, even better! |
