Advantages: Excellent service, Good prices
Disadvantages: Cost of P&P
The first time I used amazon.co.uk to buy a book was almost five years ago and haven't looked back since. The main reason for selecting amazon.co.uk was cost. I remember saving almost £30 for a computing book, which, for a student was a lot of beer's worth of money :o) Since then I am confident I have saved over £200 on books, DVDs and software, compared to buying them from high-street retailers. In addition to cost, service has always been great. All books were received on time and in excellent condition. I never really had any problems with the service and had been sceptical about what sort of customer service to expect should I ever have any problems ..... Well, my "wish" came true recently, when I ordered a few books for work and had them sent to two different addresses. As I used my credit card to pay for the books I was expecting to receive an invoice for all books regardless of where they were delivered. Unfortunately that was not the case, two invoices were sent, one to each of the delivery addresses. To complicate things further, on receiving the books, my colleague ("by mistake", he said) got rid of the invoice along with the box! And this is the bit that have always been dreading, having to contact an online retailer to resolve a problem. I didn't want to email them as I couldn't wait, I needed a copy of the invoice to claim business expenses for the books. As I was dialling the customer services number for amazon, I was preparing myself for a long "navigation" through the "press 1 for this, 2 for that, etc" labyrinth and then a long wait on queue before getting through to a sales assistant who was not having a good day ...... to my surprise, I got through to a very friendly lady almost instantly who was able to look up my order and put a copy of the second invoice in the post to me. I was indeed very surprised and happy at the same time, not only because
I was able to get a copy of the invoice but also because my favourite e-retailer did not dissapoint me :-) Thank you amazon.co.uk Copyright steveuk 2002

- 10/01/03 Great site for finding products and comparing prices but p&p is outrageous and usually cancels out all benefits.
I only use them when have vouchers to spend earned from sites like ipoints, survey prizes, doyoo points etc. |

- 27/12/02 Personally I've normally had a whole lot of hassle with customer services every order. Glad your problem came out alright - though I think you need some more of the basics in this opinion (such as stock, prices, availability, speed, p&p etc) for a VU. |
