Advantages: designer look silver
Disadvantages: takes a while to download all the piccys
I absolutely adore silver, it’s (usually) cheap enough to buy often when the fashions change, but with still being quite stylish. Luckily in Bristol and Bath we have a lot of silver Jewellery stores - not just the half price stuff, but really decent one-off silversmiths. One that springs to my mind is a shop called ‘Argenteus’ in the centre of Bristol, and now I have to walk a different way to work as I can’t just walk on by, they just pull me in with the wonderful (and quite intuitive) designs. They sell ‘quality’ silver jewellery and semi-precious stones (like amber, aquamarine and amethyst etc). Now I’ve found they’ve got a flaming website - it’s just not fair! It’s very professional to look at, with a menu down the left (I do like that, don’t ask me why though!). The pages do take a while to load, but they do have a lot of piccys to show you. You can find out about the inspiration behind all of the designers featured on the site. You can read up on what is, and how to care for your silver, amber and blue john jewellery. You can surf around the catalogue either by delving straight into the designer stuff or by clicking on the ‘mainstream’ tab. Prices start from £7.65 (plus VAT) for a pair of cubic zirconia stud earrings up to a wapping £262.13 (plus VAT) for a 76 grams weight in silver, 2 point diamond spiral necklace designed by Jeremy Hicks. Payment can be by Visa, Master Card, American Express, Switch, Solo, Delta and Eurocard using 128 bit encryption (so no problems with those darn hackers) or you can pay by cheque. You can order by E-mail, phone or fax but the easiest is online and you can even collect from one of their stores. The money won’t be taken from your credit card until the order has been despatched and you’ll usually only have to wait a week for that (unless the item is out of stock) Special orders or co
mmissions can take up to 6 weeks, but they’ll let you know via e-mail and they keep you updated as well. Delivery charges for the UK are £2.50 for Special Delivery if you spend under £25.00 and free over. Europe has a standard charge of a fiver. Returns are free (well, they’ll refund the cost of postage, just make sure you use Special Delivery folks!). Oh, and they belong to the Which? webtrader code of practice as well (makes me feel all warm inside!) They also have a gift service, well, actually, what they mean is that you can buy gift vouchers starting from a fiver! If you buy anything over £50.00 it will be delivered in a really sturdy ‘leatherette’ box otherwise it’s a pillow pack - which is still quite strong. Every 2 months they have a competition to win £50.00 quids worth of vouchers and all you have to do is answer a couple of questions about the company (which can be found around the site). Although they haven’t updated it since October....... I’ve deliberately not told you about the styling or look of each individual piece of jewellery because I want you to drool over the items yourselves! Go on, scroll up and click on the ‘official website’ link. Just remember to rate me first! Feel free to buy me anything from the Iain Henderson range, I’ll be most grateful
