Advantages: Cheap, easy to use site
Disadvantages: They are useless at delivering items...
Me and the girlfriend live in a flat nowhere near any major supermarkets, certainly not close enough to carry back 2 weeks worth of shopping with us and no car, so the only option for us is to use home delivery at various stores. the first 2 weeks we used Tesco.com to delivery our items for we had money off, however this week we decided to change to asda, they had items that nowhere else did, delivery was cheaper and we wanted cashback from topcashback which seemed perfect all round.
Until it came to delivery day.
We ordered a delivery slot for yesterday (Tuesday) between 1-3, we waited until 3:15 an no delivery, so we phoned up the call center in South Africa, they seemed nice and genuine enough and said they'd contact the storte and get back to us...1 hour later and no reply, so we phoned again and the same thing was said, again, no reply. Finally at half 6 we decided to phone for a 3rd time, this time the same was said but we were offered an E-Voucher.
We tried the store it was being delivered from and could not get through, we understand the call center had the same problem but could they not call us back, why could the Asda store not contact us to say there was a problem?
This morning I phoned again to the call center, this time seemed slightly more genuine and better, the bloke said it was unacceptable that lamost 24 hours later we had heard nothing about our shopping, he contacted the store and left a note (the store manager wasn't in and the home delivery manager wasn't even answering their phone), he then phoned back to say it should definatly be sorted today as far as he was concerend. This morning seemed alot more genuine from the call center, however I am now sitting, waiting for shopping which I have no idea what is happening with, as far as I know a strict note has been sent to the asda store in question, but whether that will get me anywhere with my shopping I'm not sure, I'm sitting and waiting for something that may (and in all possibility) not turn up at all today.
There's no food in the house, in fact me and my girlfriend had to go out and eat last night just to feed ourselves, possibly picking up some essentials today, we haven't even had the politness of a phone call from the store itself, 3 times we were told we'd be rung back by the call center people and weren't, over the last 24 hours both ourselves and the call center have not been able to get through to the store in question.
I'm left in limbo as to what to do with my shopping, I'll have to order from Tesco/Sainsburys by the end of tonight and pay extra for delivery and shopping items to be delivered tommorow as I doubt we can even have tea tonight, it's frustraiting as Asda is very cheap and does many items not vailable elsewhere, it would be perfect, price, item wise, but the delivery has majorly let it down.
Looking around I notice this is not uncommon with Asda delivery, I certainly don't suggest using them and won't be again after this no matter what refuns/compensation they offer us, it's not enough to cover having to go out and buy more food just to live for the day or 2.
Their website I actually think is better than Tesco, it's easier to search and list items, and they are cheaper, but no matter how cheap or easy the website is to use if you don't get your shopping then whats the use of it, added to that there is no e-mail address so you're forced to phone a 0845 number to get through to a South African call center.
Basically, don't use asda delivery, Tesco was perfect, how difficult can it be to pack items into a van, from a list and drive them 2 miles to it's destination, it's now been almost exactly 24 hours and zero shopping and one very hungry man.
UPDATE:
2 days later it still hadn't arrived, yet the order on my account said that it had been delivered!
It most certainly hadn't, anyway, to cut a LONG story short, we were able to phone up, cancel the order and ordered with Tesco again, less than 12 hours later we had our shopping, 1 minute inside the order window.
I know who i'll be sticking with from now on...
Summary: Horrible delivery.
