Advantages: brought to your doorstep, cheap, friendly drivers, dont need to go out in all weathers

Disadvantages: Sometimes items are missing

We have been using Asda on line shopping for about a year now. Even though we live about a 5 minute drive (okay probably 2 minute when you don't have to stop at the traffic lights) we still use this facility once a month.

People don't understand why we use it when we are so close.. here are the main reasons.

1. We argue like mad in the middle of the shop when doign our monthly shop.
2. You have to queue at the check out for ages and the whole store is manic.
3. You have to pack everything yourself, then put it all into the car, then take it from car to house.
4. We order 50 bottles of coke, lemonade etc per month and that is a lot of bottles to carry home. Also a lot of heavy cat food!
5. We would probably fill 2 trolleys full if we did it in the store.
6. We have to find a time when we are both free to do the shop.
7. My partner prefers it because i don't drag him around the clothes and home stuff!
8. We spend less because i don't keep throwing items in the trolley that i don't need

The good:

Asda have always been fantastic even when dealing with any problems we have ever had.

The drivers are always one time (even sometimes early), they are always really polite and very helpful!

The on line shopping system is really easy to use, you can even go back to it later on and add things as you think of things you might need. I always book our delivery slot 2 weeks in advance and do my shopping list over this time.

I always manage to get a free delivery code so we have never paid for delivery. If i did have to i would still do the shopping on line because its just so much easier.

The bad:

Sometimes you do get items that are out of date or very close to use by date. But if you do get this, if you phone the store or helpline they will usually send you another one or offer a refund.

Often there have been mix ups with items or things haven't turned up but again the helpline are always happy to send out a replacement if needs be.

If they don't have the item you can have a substitute which is sometimes good because you end up with a more expensive brand for the cheaper price! But sometimes you end up with something that is not what you wanted!
Like once i ordered self raising flour and the substitute was plain flour! (not helpful)!

How on line shopping works:

When registering for on line delivery they will ask for your post code first to check that they deliver to your area.

Once you have registered you can begin your shop.

The first thing you do is book a delivery time slot. As long as you order before 10pm you can book a time slot for the next day (if there is one available).

Delivery time slots are priced differently. The more in peak time the more expensive they are. (unless you get a free delivery e voucher of course).

Once you have booked you can start your shop.

Asda on line shopping has several categories which makes it easier to navigate around.

These are:
- Fresh fruit and veg
- Fresh meat and fish
- Dairy, eggs and chilled
- Bakery
- Tins, jars and packets
- Biscuits and snacks
- Drinks
- Frozen
- Health and beauty
- Baby and toddler
- Household and pets
- Home and leisure
- Special offers

When you chose the items you want to buy, they add them into a shopping list on your right hand side. This way you can see exactly what you have ordered and how much you have spent so far.

Also in your Asda account there options to add things to your favourites or look at previous shops so you can just order the same things.

Once you have finished and have a minimum of £25 ordered you can check out and use a credit or debit card to order the items.

The money for the items is not taken until the morning of your delivery which is good as we always order our shop for pay day!

The only thing that does annoy me sometimes is that they don't always have the ingredients and nutritional values of all products. I think they are slowly updating them all but this does make it hard for when i am on one of my diets!

The delivery:

On the day of your delivery a smallish sized van will turn up with either one or two drivers.

The driver will knock the door and hand you an invoice and inform you of any substitutes or unavailable items.

They will then bring you your shopping in crates which have the bags in. (they also take back any unwanted bags for recycling)

Your driver will even bring it right into your kitchen if it is easier for you, and if you live on a top floor flat they will bring it up to you. The only thing you have to do is put it away in your cupboards.

The invoice they give you makes it easy to mark things off and check everything is there!

They will then ask you to sign that you are happy and away they go.

It's so easy!

Other good points:

They deliver up to 10pm at night in the weekday.. You dont use your petrol to go to the store.. your frozen stuff is still frozen as it is kept in a cold storage in the van.

My final thought:

I love Asda because its the cheapest place to shop.. apart from Lidls bt they don't do delievry yet!
I have also used Sainburys and Tescos on line in the past and found that they were sloppy and my shopping was so much more expensive.

I have never had any massive problems with asda, only a few missing items and they have always been sorted out quickly or redelivered to me!

If you want to try on line shopping i would try Asda first! You wont be disappointed!

Summary: Asda is the best place for online shopping because they are cheap, friendly and reliable!
