Advantages: Good online ordering system

Disadvantages: Appalling customer service and no appreciation of cutomer loyalty

I last used Asda home delivery 3 years ago and will not be doing again. I had used it for months and found it satisfactory, as I remember the online system for ordering is very good and you can save different lists, eg. 'weekly', 'cleaning', 'lunchboxes' etc which make it easy to choose your items. However on this occasion I had ordered a delivery for 6-8pm slot, at 8.30 it hadn't arrived so I phoned the helpline and was told it had been delayed and would be there shortly. At 9.30 it still hadn't arrived so I phoned again and was told it would be there shortly again, during the conversation I found out I was talking to a call centre in South Africa so it was hardly surprising that they had no idea where my delivery was. Just before 10 it did show up and the driver was apologetic.

I contacted Asda to complain as while I fully understand that there will be unavoidable delays sometimes I do not think it is acceptable customer service not to inform your customer of this. As I said this was 3 years ago and despite a follow up I have not heard anything from Asda in reply to my complaint so have not, and will not be shopping there again. Based on my experience (and reading the reviews I am not alone) I have no choice but to recommend that people do not try Asda for their home delivery but go with one of the other supermarkets

Summary: I wouldn't shop there and wouldn't recommend it to anyone
