Advantages: Dont have to go shopping, delivery brought into house

Disadvantages: Quality not always what id have picked, have to wait in for 2 hrs

Recently i have hurt my back and am waiting for an operation to correct it. This has meant that i am no longer able to go and do my grocery shopping in store. This has given me a good opportunity to try out delivery services from the stores i usually shop at. The first being Asda.

What is the website like?
You log into the site by providing your email address and asda pin and then the grocery page comes up. Here you have the option to randomly search for specific items using the search box. Once you press enter you are given a selection of items that fit your description and you simply 'add to trolly'. The other option is that you can search by catagory eg 'Dairy, milk and eggs'. I find it easier to shop by section so i don't miss out any vital items. I used to just use the search box but later found i had ordered no bread or milk that week! A nice feature about the site is if you change your mind you can simply 'clear your trolly'. This means all the items in your trolly are automatically deleted in one. On say Tesco's site you dont have this option and have to go through each item individually to delete.

What are the delivery costs like?
I pay £5.50 and get my shopping delivered on a Sunday afternoon. What i don't like about the site is that you can't choose a cheaper delivery slot. I know that Sainsburys and Tescos do this. I also don't like that you can only book in two hour slots. I would rather have to wait in for only an hour and again you get this service with Sainsburys.

What is the delivery itself like?
A couple of times the drivers have been late for my delivery. Each time this happened i was telephoned 5 to 10 minutes before they were due to arrive. This was a little annoying one of the times as i had to be somewhere. Due to my back problem i have asked the drivers to bring my shopping into the kitchen and they have always obliged. They are not always the cheeriest of people but usually polite.

What is the quality of the shopping like?
With i delivery service i expect that the person shopping would do it the same way i would. This would involve choosing the freshest ingredients of the nicest quality. I have been sent bruised apples and almost out of date items a few times which i was very disapointed at.

Value for money?
Asda i have always found to be the cheaper of the supermarkets. There are often good deals and this is extended to the online delivery. I have no choice but to get the deliveries now but once my back is better i will go back to shopping myself. This isn't really a reflection on Asda's delivery service but more due to the fact that i like to browse the aisles myself for new products.

Summary: As far as delivery services go not the best but decent enough
