Advantages: Huge Range, Good Quality, Prompt CS Responses

Disadvantages: Delivery can waste your day with waiting

Clothes shopping can be taxing at the best of times, I usually struggle to find anything that really catches me fancy. I'm not a fashionista with a large closet full of clobber but occasionally I like to shake up my style.

A 25% discount coupon for Asos caught my eye last week on money saving expert so I thought I'd take a look. I was under the impression that it was a site for women's clothes but after a look I discovered they've got a great range of men's garments from suits to funky undercrackers.

The site has a sleek simple look with its products easily accessible through simple category links and options to whittle things down to a certain price range or a particular label. The product information is pretty comprehensive; giving you assorted shots of the clothes, all modelled by chiselled guys who don't seem to know the meaning of the word fat. But sometimes pictures don't suffice, so on some products you get a flash video of someone parading down the catwalk with the clothes on. It's probably the best you're going to get without being able to try the clothes on in store. At least Asos doesn't have the fitting room mirrors that make you feel bad about yourself so that's a big bonus!

I spent a long time browsing through all their products. They have a large range of major labels but also have clothes with their own label that come without the designer price tag. Now I'm not saying they're Primark prices but they are comparable to stores such as Top Shop etc. I've been looking at getting some new adidas retro trainers and found a funky pair on the site for around £50, this was comparable to most other online prices so with 25% off the deal was sealed.

Whilst there I also got some Asos branded jeans, a double-breasted cardigan and a nice retro style print shirt that was in their sale section for a fiver! The cost for that little lot was about £80 which considering the cost of the trainers was a pretty good deal.

My only niggle with the site came during the checkout process. I had set-up an account but when I decided to continue shopping rather than complete my purchase I found I had to log in every time which was a tad annoying. They also offer free shipping on orders over £75 but it's not an automatic discount, you have to enter a code. Having used a 25% discount voucher I couldn't use both codes. But after e-mailing them they offered to refund the £3.95 delivery charge even though you can't get free shipping if you've used discount. This was a nice unasked for gesture on their part.

I placed my order late on Wednesday night and got a dispatch notice the following day. The goods were dispatched through the Home Delivery Network and I was given a tracking link to see when the goods were being delivered. The only problem I have with this delivery company is that you'll probably be waiting in the entire day for it to arrive. Lo and behold they didn't deliver until around 6pm tonight but that's not a fault of Asos. The goods arrived in a large black branded asos box and were well packaged. I've found the quality of the garments to be very good. Spending £15 on an Asos men's cardigan is certainly better value than the £7 you'll spend in Primark because the quality is much better. With this new outfit I look good.... I mean Ron Burgundy good. Luckily everything fits so I won't be trying out their hassle free returns policy but I'll definitely be returning to the site as soon as I have cash in my pocket.

Summary: A great website not just for girls

I was quite liking the sound of it until you mentioned the hideous Home Delivery Network...

Yeah, I find my clothes from primark actually don't last as long as the more expensive ones. Nice review. xx

I keep meaning to give these people a try. Maybe I will now, though I'm not a fan of HDN!
