ASOS- The one stop fashion shop
Member Name: heather1918
Advantages: Easy to use, wide range of brands, reasonable price
Disadvantages: Can be dangerous for the wallet!
Short for 'As Seen On Screen', ASOS.com is a website dedicated to womens, mens, and to a lesser extent, children's clothing, accessories and beauty products.
I was introduced to the website around 7 years ago, after seeing it on numerous occassions, in a host of teen magazines. Back then, they weren't as big as they are now, and dealt with finding replica, or similar style outfits to those seen on celebrities.
They've since expanded and though, still have a section on the website that allows you to choose a celebrity, and you are presented with clothes in the style of that celeb, they've broadened their market, for allround fashion! It's definately the first place I go when looking to purchase some new clobber!
Whether it's work wear, dressing up for a night on the town-wear, or those all important holiday essentials, they cover it all. With a host of designer and high street brands, from French Connection, Vivienne Westwood and Calvin Klein, to Lipsy, Mango, All Saints and Religion, they have something for everyone. Even their beauty products come in a range of brands, including Benefit, Soap and Glory and Rimmel London.
Personally, I have been very impressed with their own ASOS brand of clothing and footwear. On numerous occassions I've ordered ASOS branded items and been impressed everytime, with the fit, quality, and best of all....PRICE!!! With ditsy summer dresses from £15 and the cutest summer pumps for just £10, it'd be rude not to!!!
The website is very easy to navigate round, and lets you customise and narrow your search for product type, size, colour, brand, and price limit. Paying couldn't be simpler too!!! You do need to register, but I only receive a few emails a month from them and the payment system seems secure (I've never had a problem with it in any case!!)
More recently they have expanded the site to include some new sections, these include-
Marketplace- A fashion haven, which includes details of the latest trends and news from the fashionworld, blogs and independently owned online boutiques for more unusual or vintage fashion.
The Green Room- For the more ethical amongst us, a collection of clothes that as ASOS put it 'have a story to tell'. It includes recycled and fairtrade clothes, cutting out the middleman and allowing the people in thirdworld countries who manufacture the items to receive what is rightfully theirs.....a decent wage!
Other perks to the site are that currently delivery is FREE! And you get 10% extra discount if you are a student and have an NUS card!!
As a personal recommendations, anyone reading this review today (the 10/03/2011), take a visit to Groupon.co.uk, pronto!! They're a website that deals with group buying and you can get some crazy deals! Todays national deal, is pay £9 and get £20 worth to spend at ASOS!! I've already purchased mine!! They had 50,000 lots of the offer to give away and they only have about 2000 left!! Even more of a reason to get some summer clothes in early!!!
Summary: An easy to use, fashion filled website with something for everyone!
