This time last year I was absolutely devastated. My Avon rep decided that she would no longer be doing her normal round, as she had got a better paid job working in the Post Office. She couldn’t find anyone else in the village who was prepared to take on her round so I decided to have a look on the internet to see if Avon had a website.

The URL can be found at www.avonuk.com. The site is pretty basic, with the home page quite sparse and only having a few links, and the bottom a completely blank space. I suppose it’s good on the eyes though!

The first link is the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. 9.6 million pounds has been raised so far just in the UK. Worldwide, the total raised amounts to $250 million.

The remainder of the links on the home page, are different categories within the Avon range. By clicking on the links, a page will display the most relevant items within that section:

BATH AND BODY

The main page of the Bath and Body section lists all the relevant offers at the present time.

Aromatherapy range – four sections within this category: sleeptherapy, stimulating therapy, sensual jasmine and revitalise therapy. The sections offer different fragranced room sprays, body lotions, room sprays, bath and shower gels to name but a few.

Footworks – Avon manufacture some wonderful products for tired and aching feet, and these are all listed in this section. Rough skin removers, foot files and creams are among the items on offer.

Skin so soft – Another wonderful Avon range. These products are unscented and the range in this section is VAST! Body creams, body washes, foam baths, and shower gels are all part of the skin so soft range and is one of Avon’s best sellers. There are often offers in this section, at present they have a 3 for 2 offer.

Naturals – This has to be my favourite section of Avon products. Naturals have some wonderfully
fruity scents and do some wonderful body lotions, hand creams, shower gels and bubble baths. New Naturals products are being introduced all the time, the latest, Almond is divine. It smells like you have Bakewell Tart on your skin all day. Lovely!

Avon Kids – My niece is partial to these products and they have some interesting items. At present Avon have a body paint gel for children to be used at bath time, supposedly to encourage the little monsters to actually wash themselves!

FASHION ACCESSORIES

Avon have many different collections in this section, which incorporate, bags, cufflinks and scarves.

FRAGRANCE

Avon have come a long way since the days of “Occur!” which always used to remind me of gnats pee. Some of the fragrances are reduced by as much as 35% during promotions, so it is definitely worth having a look at this section.

The fragrance section is divided into two parts, mens and womens. By clicking on either of these two links, you will then be taken to the complete listing. Each fragrance has its own perfume, body spray, shower gel and talc. There is a good choice in both sections.

HAIRCARE

Avon Kids – this section deals specifically with the Avon Kids hair care range. There isn’t a huge variety here but there is the chance of a free comb with any product purchased.

Avon brushes – The brushes are all very reasonably priced and although they are not the same quality of say a Denman, the brushes I have bought from Avon have lasted me longer than my more expensive ones.

Advance Techniques – Products suitable for most hair types in this section, as well as shampoos and conditioners, there are also products for hair treatments, such as hot oil and deep conditioning, together with hair sprays.

Herbal Care - I have not tried any of the items from this range yet but there is a
decent variety of shampoos in different fragrances, all priced at £2.00 and a buy one get one free offer running at present.

JEWELLERY

There are an incredible nineteen different jewellery collections in this section, and each collection has matching items such as earrings and necklace, rings and bracelets. Most of the items are either silver or gold plated, so unfortunately none of them are any good for me as I wan only wear gold.

LINGERIE AND SWIMWEAR

This section covers sexy underwear, underwear for the fuller figure, with sizes from 16-26 and also nightwear. There is a handy size chart in this section for easy reference. The nightwear ranges from purely functional to downright sexy, so there is plenty of choice for most people.

MAKE UP

Colour Trend – This is the cheaper range of Avon Cosmetics and offers make up for eyes, nails, lips and face as well as a vast array of foundations, colours, creams and powders.

Avon Colour – The Avon Colour range is very reasonably priced, and there are always offers in this section on items such as nail varnishes, eyeshadows, brushes and accessories to name but a few.

SKINCARE

Essentials – I uses many products from this section. All of the products are gentle on the skin, and there is every possible variety of cream for the face, hands and body. The Essentials packaging is simple, two toned blue.

Anew – for the old and wrinklies amongst us. The products in this section are supposed to help us all grow old gracefully, with many different anti-wrinkle creams, serums and line eliminators.

Hand and Face – A small section with only two hand creams and two face creams. I have tried the rich moisture cream which does the job, and is priced at £2.50 for 100 ml.

Teen Care – Although my two children who live at home haven’t reached the 
220;spotty” stage yet, I would imagine that they will do sometime soon. There are many products in this section, for the prevention of spots, such as cleansing wipes, face washes and deep pore cleansers.

Solutions Body - Another wrinkly section – this one lists stretch mark smoother (pity there isn’t something that will banish the revolting things for ever), and anti-cellulite cream. Although these products are slightly on the expensive side, there is a buy one get one free offer at the moment.

Solutions Face – Creams and potions for all different skin types are listed in this section. Again, these are slightly more expensive that other Avon ranges, but there is an BOGOF offer here too.

SUNCARE

Avon do some great deals on their sun tan lotion and creams, normally in the Spring, so I tend to stock up on these items early. At the moment, their self tanning products are on a 3 for £10 offer. The kids sun care range is great. We always use Avon products for the children, and have no complaints about any we have tried so far. The range here is extensive, with many of the items being on offer, and one of the best range of their sun care is the insect repellent lotions and creams. The after sun range is also very good and the ice gel is glorious!

WELLBEING

Shouldn’t this be on a Boots site???

This section concentrates on items for the home, such as oil burners, together with exercise aids and videos. In this section you will also find products that can’t be listed under any of the other categories, such as sleep stones, stress balls, vitamins and Totes socks!

Now, if you can’t be bothered to trawl through all the sections, there is a search facility on the site, so if you have a specific product you would like to order, this is probably the easiest way to order.

The Avon Café section has some tips for getting a flatter stomach,
there is a section for Beauty FAQs, and also a screensaver to download. I think I’ll stick with my Winnie the Pooh one for now! E-cards can be sent from this section.

There is a section on the site from which you can apply to be an Avon Rep if you are interested and this section also lists the benefits and FAQs about reps.

If you are worried about internet security, your Avon goods can also be ordered by post or telephone, but I have made orders from the site on a regular basis. However, I do have one complaint about the ordering. It isn’t quick and I normally have to wait about two weeks for it to reach me. Although it does state clearly on the site, that goods will be delivered within a week to ten days. As far as I can tell, your order can only be tracked if you are an actual representative, but I did receive a confirmation e-mail when the goods were ordered. However, I heard nothing more from the site until the parcel landed on my doorstep, although the money was taken from my account quickly enough. Brochures can be ordered from the site, but you will receive one with your order regardless.

Postage and packing is reasonable, and costs £2.50 whatever the size of your order, provided that you live in the UK.

Any orders over £100 will receive a 10% discount.

So how do I rate the site? Good, if you don’t mind waiting for your items. If you happen to have an Avon book, you will not always find the same items on the site. I did enquire about this and Avon informed me that they could not possibly list all items on the site, but did not go into further details. A nice idea though and as I haven’t got a rep, I will be using it again.
