Advantages: good choice and range of sizes
Disadvantages: some items still a bit high
Brown Bag Discount Designer Clothing claims to be the Internets one stop shop for the latest menswear designer clothing at low prices. This company is based in the United Kingdom and it’s promise is to supply merchandise that is 100% authentic. The company is part of the Which? Webtrader Code of Practice. THE WEBSITE The site is quick to load but with it’s rather disgusting brown backdrop it is enough to put you off shopping there. Obviously this chosen colour scheme is trying to represent a brown paper bag but I think it could be made to look a little bit more pleasing. Apart from this, it is well laid out and is very simple to navigate. PRICES Most items are reduced by at least 30% on the recommended retail price, with a selection being slashed by up to 75%. SHOPPING You can search for items either by designers or by categories. DESIGNERS are: Armani, Burberry, Cerruti, D & G, Evisu, Hugo Boss, Lacoste, Moschino, Paul Smith and Paul & Shark. CATEGORIES are: Hats/Caps, Jackets, Jeans, Shirts, Shorts, Sweaters, and T-Shirts. They do have a good range of products and the range of sizes available is also good. Jeans and shorts come in sizes 28 – 38 inch waists but a standard 34 inch leg is the only option available for jeans. Sweater, shirts and T – shirts are available in sizes medium to extra large with a selected variety available in extra extra large, with covers a 44 inch chest measurement. Each item is displayed with a good clear image and description. A tick next to the product shows you that it is currently in stock and the sizes that it is available in. You will also see the recommended retail price for that item as well as the reduced price that you can purchase it for. After choosing the size that you require, you click to add it to your shopping basket. SHOPPING BASKET Once you have clicked to purchase an item,
you are taken directly to the shopping basket, where your purchases are displayed. The size and the cost are also displayed and you have the option to remove any items that you no longer require. PAYMENT Once satisfied with your order you can proceed to the checkout area, where you can buy online. You will be asked for your details – name, email address and telephone. Your credit/debit card details are then taken as well as a delivery/cardholders address. You still have the option to cancel but if satisfied you can then confirm the order. This takes you to a confirmation of order page, where a clear invoice is produced, which you can, if you wish, print out. It comes with an order reference number and a thank you message for using the company. DELIVERY Delivery is charged at £3.50, no matter how large the order is. Orders are despatched as soon as the payment details have been confirmed, with delivery normally taking around 7 days in the United Kingdom. I was however pleasantly surprised to find that my order arrived in only 3 days. The orders are sent via Special Delivery and so you must be present in order to sign for the parcel. The goods are well packaged. SECURITY The company uses a ‘secure SSL server’ that uses encryption to hide all personal and sensitive information including your credit/debit card details. GUARANTEE The company offers a 14 - day ‘no quibble’ guarantee, which means that for whatever reason you are unhappy with your purchases you are entitled to receive your money back. The goods must be unworn and still be in possession of their labels. CUSTOMER SERVICES Queries or complaints can be dealt with either by email, telephone or post. Beware though, that their telephone line is charged at a standard mobile rate so I would recommend email if at all possible. The staff, however are extremely friendly and helpful and
if they cannot answer your query quickly they are happy to take your telephone number and call you back. IN GENERAL All in all it is not a bad shopping site, but the prices of some of the items can still be a bit high.
