Our Freezer had finally bitten the dust after 12 years of constant use. The contents of it had become a block of ice with some food somewhere inside. There was nothing I could do but look for another one to replace it. Having bought a new fridge last year I decided to buy the freezer to go with it.

I knew the exact model I wanted so I decided to look around the web to find the best buy I could. After consulting Pricerunner I discovered that Bigsave.com had by far the best offer. They charged £219.78 the next cheapest being £226.99 and the most expensive was £289.97. At £219.78 it was £40 cheaper than my local retailer who seemed significant enough to order online was.

Before placing an order you have to give personal information and join Bigsave.com. It was not too onerous a procedure so I happily joined and ordered my freezer and sat back and waited. Immediately I received an e-mail, informing me that I had joined, and another one confirming my order.

With the confirmation there was a link so you can keep an eye on how your order is proceeding. My order had status NEW. I was perturbed when a couple of days later it still had status NEW. What was happening with my order? Was there a problem? Were they charging the wrong price?

When the status remained NEW for what seemed like too long I rang up customer services and got an answer phone. I do not like them so I tried again later. After about 3 attempts I was put through to someone in customer services who said that they had no record of my order so gave me he head office number to phone. When I got through I go another answer phone so I decided to send an Email and wait. Next thing I knew I had an Email with a delivery date I was obviously panicking for no reason! My status had changed!

Unfortunately the delivery date I was given was no good as I was due to go to town with my daughter as it was her Inset day; I could not let her down. I rang the number
given and it was another answer phone. I bit the bullet and left a message, very unusual for me. Not very long after I left my message I got a call giving me another delivery date, which I could commit to so I was happy about that. Delivery was now down to the manufacturers. I was now shipped.

A couple of days later I got my phone call from the manufactures who gave me another delivery date which again was fine for me but they could not give me a time so on Friday I will be in from 8.00am until it arrives possibly as late as 6.00pm!

****UPDATE****

10:15 the freezer arrived in one piece just right to fit into my kitchen. It was delivered by a couple of very helpful young men who managed to move it into my kitchen and instructed me to leave it for a few hours to settle down before I switch it on. Now my fridge and new freezer are sitting happily together!

Big save is a department store on line. It offers some huge savings on a large range of products, in three areas: electronics, home and garden and sport. They do not have much choice, with 15 freezers to choose from, 3 microwaves and no dishwashers, but will add new products if you can not find exactly what you are looking for it is worth asking!

The pictures are good, showing you what the product looks like. There is a good link from the tracking page to the product you have ordered, which means that you can easily seen if you have made a mistake and so need to cancel your order. They are happy enough for you to cancel your order and do not take your money until the goods have left the warehouse, or until they have arranged delivery when being delivered by the manufacturers.

Having been unsure about Bigsave at the start of my ordering process, due to not being able to talk to any one and find out what was happening with my freezer, I have been very happy with their customer service and price. I would happily shop with them again.
