I always thought that BOL had a hard time living upto the expectations put upon them by the likes of Amazon and other on-line book shops. I don't even know which came first (sound familiar?) Amazon or BOL, but one thing is for sure - I won't be going back.

After buying almost 30 items from Amazon, including books, CD's and videos (not one discrepency, error or cock-up I hasten to add), I decided to look up a book which one of my relatives wanted for Christmas.

I looged onto Amazon and to my amazement, it wasn't in stock (I couldn't even order it in especially), so I decided to try B.O.L.

Sure enough, after a search, there was the book. A reasonable £8.99 for a hardback book. Maybe I'll use B.O.L more often I thought. So I went through the normal routine of entering address and credit card details and off the order went.

Minutes later an email arrived saying thankyou for my order and it will be with me within 2 working days.

Well, I knew it was too good to be true. A week passed and nothing, so I sent a very polite email querying my order status and all I got was a generic reply saying someone will look into it. Another week went by and still nothing so I send another email, this time saying if I haven't heard anything within the next few days then my order will be cancelled. Still nothing.

£8.99 may not be a great deal of money in this day and age, but I thought customer satisfaction was coming back into fashion with all these 'dot.com' businesses.

No wonder Amazon are the most successful online book shop - even their website is easier to use. Maybe I was just unlucky and call me impatient, but in my opinion, life's too short to start chasing people for late orders - if they don't want (or think they're too big to need) my custom, then I won't give it to them.
