Advantages: Nice site!
Disadvantages: Slow, delivery expectations unrealistic, tried to charge me extra.
It's kind of hard to write this review, as my experience of this company has been slightly schizonphrenic. On the one hand, my sister orders 2 chart CDs at a discounted rate, and gets them in 24 hours. And on the other... well, 'let me tell you a story...'
Sometime in early September last year, I ordered Spirit by Jewel from Bol. It was £9.99, with no P&P. Great, I thought, £4 cheaper than the High Street, and with delivery given as 3-4 days, I wouldn't have to wait long.
Of course, it didn't arrive within this time, but I wasn't too bothered. After all, it was cheap, and it was bound to turn up soon, right? Wrong.
A month goes past. E-mail's are exchanged. The nice man at Bol tells me it is 'on order' from the US, as it's a fairly unusual choice. So why was a delivery time of 3-4 days quoted? Surely it couldn't be that they were 'bending' the truth to get the business?
But I digress. Christmas comes and goes (3 months+ since the order date) and I see the album in 'Our Price' for £3, in a sale. I buy it and inform Bol. The response is less than encouraging - if the order's been sent, I'll have to pay the P&P to return the package. I phoned Bol, using a few words of which I am now ashamed. I didn't have to pay the P&P in the end, as the CD still hadn't arrived at their warehouse.
Bol failed to keep me informed of the progress of my order without prompting, even though it was taking many times the time they said it would. And then they had the nerve to want to charge me after I'd cancelled it! I was appalled at the dreadful service and advise others to buy elsewhere.
