Whenever I'm browsing the net for new day clothes or an outfit for a special night out my purchases always end up at boohoo! Their website is simple and easy to browse (also mobile compatible) with all their categories having a different section or tab. The thing I love most about boohoo is the latest fashions! Whenever a new trend hits the high street you can guarantee boohoo have that trend already stocked! Boohoo prices are also much cheaper than rival online fashion brands and they don't compromise the quality of their items. Each time I've ordered from boohoo my ordered has arrived on my doorstep no later than 3 working days (for example I ordered on Monday and it was on my doorstep first thing Wednesday morning) - much quicker than every other website I've ordered from. The returns process is also simple and easy with the returns notes included in your parcel! If you do browse the website don't forget to search the clearance section for some brilliant bargains!!
Boohoo is one of the best online clothing stores to date. It had a wide variety of styles that could appeal to almost anyone no matter what kind of things they wear. I've only been using this website for a few months now, but everything I've received from Boohoo has been great quality, and everyone had complimented me on what I am wearing. They had beautiful shoes, handbags, dresses, skirts.. Everything. I don't really keep up with the latest style, but whenever I go onto Boohoo, they always have things that I would love. If I was going out shopping, I'd normally go to New Look etc, but nowhere has as nice clothes as Boohoo. Delivery is not expensive at all. I think to deliver to the UK it is something like £3.99, and if you spend over £40 it is free delivery, whereas other places you have to spend around 80/100.
I've been using boohoo for a long time now and when I first started using it nobody had really heard of it. I had seen it on a blog and since then it has really exploded (probably thanks to a huge advertising campaign). It is an online-only clothing store which has recently started selling male clothing, but specialises in female clothing and accessories. =Good Points= There is a wide selection of styles and products. I personally like alternative grunge/punk clothing (lots of black, spikes, skulls etc) and I always seem to find some really cool items on boohoo, but if you're not into that they also have beautiful floral items, going out dresses, high heels, pumps, jewellery, leggings, coats, skirts, shorts and pretty much everything! No matter what you are looking for - I would give boohoo a try as they more than likely sell it. Even though I'm not someone to really keep up with the latest trends (my style has hardly changed since I was 15!), I have noticed boohoo is always up to date with current hot trends and does it quite well. Boohoo are very good value in my opinion. Going out dresses are quite often under £20 for instance and everything is just a little bit cheaper than I would normally expect. I have never seen something on there and thought it was overpriced. They don't operate any proper shops so maybe that's how they keep prices low (in the same way Amazon does I guess). They also seem to always have a sale on with loads of items in the sale rather than just one or two of last season's leftovers. Delivery is super-speedy. I always get my items way sooner than I expect which is great. =Less good points= I have found the quality of boohoo products isn't fantastic - notably the opaqueness of garments. I have bought a few tube skirts from them and every single one was completely see-through. The same goes for a jersey top I bought and a cardigan. All the material is very thin and so it also isn't very warm for winter clothing. You have to bear in mind, however, that these products are significantly cheaper than you would find on the high-street so I can understand the less than fantastic quality - but it is a shame! I have found some of the skirts to also be quite short, but the lengths are all listen on the website so I only have myself to blame for that one. Secondly, the website is a pain at times. They have thousands of products and even when filtering down to EXACTLY what you want, you still have to sift through hundreds of items before you find something. I suppose this could also be a good point in the fact that they have so many items - there's sure to be something you want. Sometimes I get bored on page 18 of dresses and give up - maybe I give up too early and miss my dream-dress! They also charge a re-stocking fee if you return an item. I can understand this, but it is a little annoying if something just isn't what you were expecting - asos don't charge you a penny. Everything else to do with returns was simple and easy. =Overall= Overall they have to get 4/5 - the quality isn't great, but it's really cheap and the website can be a bit of a pain at times. Quick delivery, wide-range of cool products means I will shop again, but if the prices were to increase, I'd have to take my custom elsewhere as the quality wouldn't justify spending any more.
I absolutely love boohoo.com, I recently ordered two items, a dress and a cardigan from them. The items looked exactly like the pictures shown on the website, the material feels great quality and they fit true to their size. Boohoo.com is a reasonably priced clothes site, I find it a good website to purchase 'faddy' fashion purchases. They stock all the latest trends without the huge price tags you may find from other retailers. For more basic, fashion staple items, the style steals section of the website is fantastic. You can get a huge selection of cheap items that you can mix with the fashion items for extremely low prices, usually under £15.00. Whilst delivery is reasonably priced, £3.99 to be delivered in four working days or £5.99 for next day delivery and Saturday delivery, they often run promotions that give you free delivery if your spend over a certain amount of money, normally around the £40-£50 mark. I'm a student and absolutely love the 10% student discount you can get from boohoo.com, it makes their reasonably priced items even better value (and makes me feel a little less guilty for having an online spending splurge!). Overall, I would definitely recommend this website to my friends.
I always struggle to look for clothes to be honest. I can find it a chore to try and find something which suits my pear shape (which can be an absolute nightmare sometimes) and so buying online rather than trying on instores can make things more of a challenge. I have had relatively good experiences as a customer at boohoo.com. I find their website very easy to use. The main categories are in a drop down menu at the top making it hard to miss things. Then once you have selected a category you can filter the results down further to cut out the products you are not interested in looking for. Eg you can filter by colour, style, size etc. You can also order these by best selling, what is recommended and the cost of the items in the search. I find that boohoo has a large variety of clothing on their website. But not so much that it is completely overwhelming such as the likes of asos where it can take you nearly all day to go through the products available. I find that I would say most of the clothes are aimed towards younger people but they also have a section now for men and children. Some of the clothes are slightly outrageous but you can also find clothes which are more conservative but do have a stylish edge to them. There is something for everyone on there and it covers a variety of styles. ~~~Purchase of clothes~~~ My clothes have always arrived in a black plastic bag with 'boohoo.com' written on it. Items are never padded but they always come in good condition. Each item is wrapped in plastic within the carrier. Main issue I have had with boohoo is their sizes can be a bit hit and miss. However if you have the energy to return a product which I have done so in the past, they send you a stamp to stick back on the package and I have freeposted it without any hassle. I got my refund within about 2-4 weeks of returning it. Recently received a dress and the stitching wasn't the best quality and the size again was a bit off. I however couldn't be bothering to return but perhaps if I lose some weight I can put it to use! I also find that belts that come with the dresses are not of the best quality and sometimes I do think of the 'you get what you pay for' motto when it comes to some of their items. I also find it a pain when I can get student discount and I can't often use it due to other offers being available that are worth a greater discount. Sometimes free delivery can be used as well but I do find the redeeming discount process to be a bit tedious. I'm often reopening webpages and using different combinations of codes to try and get the best deal which is very time consuming. In conclusion their clothes can be of good value but I do find that I am more disappointed when I receive the products then when I first buy them as they are often do not fit or they don't look as good as they do online. However they are a good price and they are an easy company to work with as returning is straight forward. I will be continuing to repurchase from them every now and again but I only do so when they have really good deals or I see something I really like the look of. Just a quick sidenote their boots are of brilliant quality! So again like I say it can be a bit of luck what you get.
A few months ago I had won some tickets at work as I as colleague of the month and I had already bought a dress just needed a little something for over the top. I adore kimono style cover ups and was having zero luck until I logged on to boohoo.com. Here is my review. Site The site is very well set out, with all of the relevant departments on the top bar in pink and then split out from there. I am a size 16 here as the clothes are cut fairly small and it he filter option makes it very easy to show just what I can wear. All of the clothes are supported by a number of pictures so even though you are buying online you know them almost as well as if you saw them in a shop. The only thing you can't do is touch them! There is even a catwalk video option for some if them. I am forever on this site buying things and looking to see what I would like next and have never experienced a problem. Products and Range I am a dress person, to me there is nothing better than something long sleeved either midi or maxi and boohoo do not disappoint. Due to my size I can't have all the products they have on offer. This is a shame as I imagine they lose some business this way. Everything I have from boohoo is great quality and has been worn a number of times. I will eventually review those all separately. Everything comes in so many colours too and I have never seen anything with 'out of stock' next to it. Delivery The charge for standard delivery when I last bought from boohoo was £3.99 but if you spend over £50 it Isfree. I always spend over £50 so this isn't an issue for me and there are many promo codes online that can get you free delivery no matter what you spend. The products could very quickly on this normally about three working days. Prices Are very reasonable and quite similar to the likes of new look and h and m with some things being a it more expensive but also some great basics. For example a maxi dress can be purchased for £10 at the moment . All in all a great site but it does lose points for not having everything appropriate is size 16.
I usually travel for long periods of time, so when I head home, I usually celebrate with my friends and always want something new to wear. I have shopped at boohoo for about 4 years now, before they were famous. I still usually choose BooHoo.com because they have reasonable prices and good products out there. However, on most but not all occassions (I have ordered from them about 15 times) there have been items that are missing from the delivery. The delivery note never has any notes about the item not being there and I will usually just randomly get a refund for the missing items or I will need to call about the missing item(s). Neither of these are really acceptable. When ordering items online, I expect them to tell me when something is not available so that I can choose something else or know if I need to get this certain item elsewhere. When I have to email and use my own time to let them know that an item is missing, this is just extra hassle that I do not really need. I think orders should be checked better and for all the extra hassle I have gone through, they have never offered me any discount or refunds, which I think is expected seeing as this does not happen just once or twice but most times that I have ordered from them. Having said this, I do like the products and believe that the clothes and accessories are indeed good value for money. I have received some items where I literally have to go back and check to see if that was what I ordered, but this is quite rare. I think I will keep shopping with Boohoo but not based on their customer service but more on their products they offer and the prices they have. I do believe that they need to improve customer service but also glad that they have good reasonable pricing.
My daughter has used this site and purchased several items with no problems until she ordered an owl diamanté tee shirt. When it arrived she tried it on and immediately the diamantés were falling out of their mounts. She wanted to return the item so we contacted boohoo and said that it was being sent back. She packaged it up and using their returns label she took it to the post office and handed it to the post master. She did not think to get a receipt as proof of postage. I contacted the company the next week and asked if they had received the faulty item as refund had not yet been given. They said they had not received it and could I send proof of postage I explained I did not have this and they have continued to state that they have not received the returned tee shirt, despite several emails there response is always the same send proof of postage. This company have not been fair or tried to meet us half way. This faulty item was returned over a month ago and I have to say I am very disappointed at their lack of customer service. Please be careful when ordering it is exactly what you want as I have read several other negative feedback on review sites re this company I wish I had read them before my daughter wasted her money she has no tee shirt and no refund. I do appreciate she should have got a receipt from the post office but not much goes astray with Royal Mail. company have had no empathy and considering she liked their clothing she will not buy from them again following their treatment of her.
Having read other people's reviews about boohoo it just confirms my own just missed awful experience. I tried to buy a baseball jacket from them and had just got to the "confirm and pay" button when I noticed they had swapped the size I wanted - a Small - for a Large. Thinking it was a mistake I went back to correct it. After repeating this process several times I realised that the problem was they had no size Small in stock and so were trying to sneak in another size without my noticing. Reading other people's accounts of how they have no customer services and only e mails and how impossible it is to get your money back I feel I escaped this rotten company by the skin of my teeth. Be warned!
I have been shopping online with boohoo for quite some time now and i still love it like i did when i first heard about it. As i have been saving up to get my own house with my partner and a baby coming along too i cant spend as much as i would like to on clothes and i find Boohoo helps with that as i buy everything in the sale as stupidly good prices and even with a bump, normal clothes fit over my bump nicely even though they dont do maternity clothes. Boohoo is definately more aimed at females as the main thing they stock is womens clothing, accessories and footwear but recently they have started doing mens clothing which i always look at for my partner as he hates shopping and the products they stock for men look really good and at a great price same as the womens. I always find with Boohoo that they always have a clearance bit so thats where i always head first (every week in fact) just because i love to get bargains..even the full priced items are not badly priced at all i would say roughly around the same price as some things at New Look. When looking at Boohoo's website its so easy to find what you want with main catergories and then sub catergories and you can keep narrowing your search down with price and size or if you know something particular you are looking for you can write it in the search box. When placing an order you do have to sign in and put all your details in but thats quick and easy to do, they also do delivery charges ranging from £3.99 to £6.99 but you just choose your option you want and i also find alot of times they offer free next day delivery if ordered by a certain time which is great!! I personally love Boohoo and have never had to return any items as they have never been faulty, damaged or late so i would highly recommend.
I was looking for cheap websites to buy clothes from, as I've found recently that I've been unable to find decent clothes at certain points in shops when they are super focused on party seasons. As a student, my clothes spending tends to be quite minimal and I tend to shop around in places such as H&M for my clothes. On the suggestion of a friend, I was shown Boohoo who said that their clothes were quite similar and around the same price. Boohoo's site has more of a focus on women's clothes as many of the sections have more clothes centred around them, however there is also a men's section which I think has been recently added. Getting around the website from even the homepage was very easy and I liked how well organised and laid out the website was. Upon opening the homepage there is a variety of tabs -New In -Womens -Footwear -Accessories -Mens Trends -Holiday Shop -Clearance Aside from these main headlines, there is also more specific ones if you look hover above them for all the different styles of clothing in that category. However, Boohoo don't stop there, as when you click on one of the main headings and are taken to the page, they give you on the left hand side tickboxes for loads of different styles of clothes to find specifics. This was great for finding things if I wanted a particular item such as just a t-shirt or skirt, and stopped unnecessary time wasting trawling through the website. While many websites may have really rubbish clearance sales, I was really happy to see that on Boohoo many great quality and looking items were actually available in the sale. Also, the prices of the general items around the website are of pretty good price of the quality that the items are of. When I have purchased from there, I have found the items to never experience any tearing or a lot of fading after quite a lot of use. The postage for the items on the website is very reasonable compared to some other clothes websites I've purchased from, and they are very good at keeping to delivery dates as any time I have ordered something it comes when stated and never has been late. Also, the packaging it comes in has protected the clothes well and there has never been any problem with the packaging arriving torn. Below are the prices for packaging of goods from the website: UK Next Day - £5.99 / EUR 7.50 per order UK Saturday - £6.99 / EUR 8.99 per order UK Saver - £3.99 / EUR 4.99 per order I have never had to return any of the items that I purchase from there, so I don't have too much to comment about them. However, from looking at their policy, it appears that you can have up to 14 days to return the items. Overall, I definitely have to recommend Boohoo.com as a place to purchase clothes if you are looking for an affordable clothes website. Everything I have received from there has been of great quality for the prices its offered at and combined with great delivery costs and times, I give it 5 out of 5. Many of my friends use this website also, and they have had the same experience as I, so boohoo.com clearly are a reputable business.
I am a size 16 and quite a 'top heavy' kind of girl. A kind of girl that most retail fashion stores do not clothing for. It was my birthday coming up and I wanted a nice party dress that I could go out in. After looking several times on Boohoo (But deciding not to get anything), I decided to have a browse, which, led to me to falling in love with a Pink Skater Dress, which, they stocked in a size 16 and only £15.00, was I in heaven? I was in no rush to get the dress, so I didn't pay for next day delivery, but instead standard, which was £1.95, if I remember correctly. Although I cannot remember how many days the dress had promised to come in, it came in just under a week, including a weekend, which I found good for the price. The dress was folded and in a little plastic bag, which the postman actually managed to squeeze through the postbox, I am not sure if this made me happy because I didn't have to go down to the Post Office (I was not in at the time), or unhappy as I had hoped that maybe it could have been wrapped in bubble wrap or something, to add more protection from it getting damaged. However, when I opened the dress. it was perfectly fine. The colour was a lot darker than what it seemed on the screen, and although this didn't bother me as I liked it, it is something to be wary of, and the material was quite thick, good, taking into account the dress was only £15.00. The dress, as seen on screen was a lighter pink colour and came with a black belt which broken the dress up into two. The belt, when the dress arrived was the only thing I could find that maybe could have been changed, as it looked cheap and 'market stall' like. However, so far, a happy customer. However, this was about to change. I tried the dress on, and it was a bit of a squeeze, nevertheless it did fit me. However, under the arms were baggy and looked odd with a figure hugging dress. I then put on my shoes (Heels) with the dress, when I discovered I had made a big mistake in purchasing it. I am unsure how I should put this, but basically, the dress was so short, you could see my underwear from the back. Unfortunately, this was not just a glimpse, but a large chunk of my underwear. I tried it on with tights, but still, the dress looked nothing more than a long t-shirt. So, trying to comprimise, I tried it on with leggings, which just didn't look right whatsoever. Disappointed, I wrote a review on the dress on Boohoo.com, which I probably should of read earlier, as there were not many positive reviews. Although I did not read the small print, therefore this is my fault, I am also disappointed that when I finally got the chance to send the dress back, I was too late, as it is only 14 day returns. This, I do not feel is enough time for most people to decide on an item of clothing, and god help you if you decide to buy an item of clothing for someone as a present, you literally have no chance of sending it back, and so forth, I am stuck with a dress that will never leave my wardrobe. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the quality of clothing from Boohoo.com. purely based on this dress. This is not however to say that I will not purchase again from Boohoo, as it may just have been this item and it is only my first experience with them. I will say that the prices are fantastic, but not if the clothing is not of good quality. A second chance, maybe, but somewhere I would recommend at the moment.
This Christmas when my Mum was looking for gifts to get me and her budget was low, I found Boohoo.com. I'd seen the website I few years earlier, perhaps about 2010, and back then realised how the prices were somewhat reasonably, and considerably lower than many other online-shops. So, having reminded myself of the website I set about looking for gifts to put in my 'wishlist' that she could decide from so that there was still some kind of suprise for me when I opened my gifts. Boohoo has both a men and women's section, with the latter being larger and much more developed, as is often the case with online stores. There are a number of different tabs to navigate the site that are "New In", "Womens", "Footwear", "Accessories", "Men" "Trends", "Holiday Shop" and "Clearance". The men's tab also has a tagline 'NEW' as it is a recent addition to the site, which I noticed upon my return since 2010 as I dont think it was present back then. The first five tabs are somewhat self explanatory and the other final two are simply summerwear and items for sale at a reduced price. It is always possible to bag yourself a bargain in the 'clearance' section of the website, so I recommend checking it out. For the purpose of building my wishlist, I only really stuck to the Women's section and even then 'Dresses', 'Tops' and 'Jeans and Denim'. I was pleasantly surprised with the prices of often overpriced (in my opinion as a lowly and pretty poor student) items like trousers and jackets. In fact in total I recieved 12 items from the website as gifts from my parents and she informed my the price of this was a mere £130 which for that number of items, I feel is a real bargain. The main page currently has two great images featuring items for sale from the website in both the men's and women's section. As well as this there is a tab for a first time customer discount which sadly my Mum didn't receive because at that particular time (just before Christmas) they weren't offering anything. The bottom of the page also displays further deals to be had within the site such as the Clearance section, which as I mentioned is a great way to save yourself some cash, and particular styles from the runway and celebrities that are said to impress. This is an excellent addition as it means that those of you that are fashion conscious and can keep up with the latest fashions at an affordable price to boot! The price of postage and packaging in the UK is as follows: UK Next Day - £5.99 / EUR 7.50 per order UK Saturday - £6.99 / EUR 8.99 per order UK Saver - £3.99 / EUR 4.99 per order This is equally reasonable as having ordered so many items, my Mum wasn't overly out of pocket. Returns can be made for up to 14 days, which I personally think is a little early, as when two of my items arrived recently and I tried them on to check if they fit well, I discovered they were a little too large and was unable to return them by then as I had surpassed the limit by only a few days. Payments can be made through paypal and the following payment cards: Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Solo, Maestro and Electron. The quality of the goods are excellent and I have no faults to mention at all with any of the items I have recieved. Even the goods I purchased that were a little too large for me was simply because I had overestimated the sizing and overcompensated a little. Had I bought my original size, it would definitely have fit, and I was disappointed to have excellent quality goods I was unable to wear. Overall, Boohoo.com is an excellent site with great choice and variety as well as reasonable postage and item prices. It is an excellent way to keep up with fashion for a little bit less and wear great looking clothes that will last for a very long time. I have had no issues with the website and neither have my friends and family who have also used the website. It is definitely a site I will gladly use again.
In 2006 a new web site launched called Boohoo. I remember it well. I read about it in Company or Cosmo or Glamour and I thought it looked absolutely fabulous. Cheap, quality clothing, which sought to follow trends whilst remaining within a reasonable budget - this was in the days just before Primark became 'cool' (and over priced). I went on their site to find that they only went up to a size 14, which meant my shopping experience with Boohoo ended right there. Over the following years the company really exploded into magazines, billboards, award ceremonies, etc picking up some prestigious silver (probably glass) ware. Over 2009 -2010 they launched innovative web features, like 360 product views, catwalk videos, etc. I seriously heard about them what seemed like non-stop from colleagues, friends and even family. Raving about how cheap they were. Only £6 for a skirt, or £5 for a dress, or £3 for a top... whatever, you get the picture! Anyway, my desk buddy at work told me they stocked size 16s and convinced me after Tweeting some pictures of herself wearing a new outfit from Boohoo; I just snapped - I had to try this site! I carefully shopped around the site, I wanted a skater dress for my partner's cousin's 18 th birthday party, but because of my size I wanted knee length and elbow length. I found the site pretty easy to navigate my way about and I liked the punchy graphics, edgy font type faces and seriously cool dresses. I found a lovely plain black skater dress, knee length, I checked out the model's video and also the height of the model (very important when selecting a dress!!!), I then had a look at the sizes. It went up to a 16! And having lost a bit of weight, and after checking the size guide, 16 would fit me! As it was the party on the Saturday evening and it was Wednesday evening when I ordered I paid £5.99 (instead of the standard £3.99) for Next Day courier delivery, which would arrive on the Friday, giving me plenty of time to try the dress on, and shop for an alternative if it didn't fit me. I paid via Paypal as I didn't have my debit card with me when I ordered, but knew my Paypal log in details to which my debit card is linked. Other usual methods of payments can be used such as Credit Card, Debit Card and of course, Paypal. The money left my account right away and I received an almost instant email to tell me that the dress had been dispatched - I was so excited. On the Thursday I got an email with a tracking number on for the courier company, but when I tried to track it there wasn't any record of the number - but I figured because it was next day delivery they hadn't even logged it on to their systems as it was going through the network so quickly. The Friday came and went. The Saturday came and (saw me wearing an old horrible dress to the party) went. The Sunday, Monday and Tuesday came and went. Then on the Wednesday coincidentally after sending an email to the customer services at Boohoo, the dress arrived. Despite being really annoyed about the delay, I was so excited to try on the dress, already deciding I'd wear it for work instead (what can I say, I'm a girl who loves dresses - any excuse to buy one and I do!!!). I went to my bedroom and quickly tried it on. It fit lovely around my whole top half and it looked absolutely gorgeous. The material was quite thick and heavy; perfect for the mild weather we had back in January, and it had a little cute patent cinch waist belt which really set off the detail in the dress. The only problem was the hemline. It was absolutely awful. The dress was knee length but only at the edges, then the cut was like an upside down U shape, meaning at the bit that counts (my thighs and knees) it was really, really short. I was so disappointed, as it had the potential to be a great dress, one that I could wear every day or really dress up for an evening out. Anyway, I decided to keep it, I am far too lazy to send things back unless they really don't fit, and I chose to keep it as something to aim toward wearing. In the meantime though, I wanted my £2 back that I'd paid extra for the Next Day delivery and didn't receive. That's when the problems really started. Boohoo doesn't have a customer services telephone number, so everything is done via email. I emailed them about the Next Day delivery fee in addition to the email I'd sent them asking where my dress was. I got an automatic acknowledgement email instantly, but no reply, so I gave it 3 working days and still heard nothing. I then remembered that I had paid using Paypal so I decided to open a dispute. Almost instantly I got a response to the dispute. The response said that they were sorry that I did not receive my order on time, they try to fulfil all orders within the quoted timescales but on this occasion were unable to do so, they apologised for any inconvenience caused. It then went on to state that unfortunately they were unable to resolve my issue whilst a Paypal dispute was open, they suggested that I close the dispute and then they would be able to offer me a refund for the postage and a partial refund for the item as a goodwill gesture. I thought, fair enough, they clearly have a great reputation and so I closed the Paypal dispute despite the warnings from Paypal that they couldn't reopen the case once it had closed. I didn't receive a refund though from Boohoo. Instead I got an email off them telling me to close the Paypal dispute. When I advised them that I already had, they responded with the same email telling me to close it. I replied again (getting quite cross) and they replied again with the same damn email template telling me to close the dispute. I sent them a screen shot from Paypal to show them that I had - they sent me a fourth email telling me to close the Paypal dispute. I almost cried! My next stop was sending them a 'threatening', complaining style email - I will take it further, I will seek advice from Trading Standards, blah, blah, all mouth no idea... But! They responded this time with a non-generic mail, telling me to double check that Paypal had closed the dispute and asking for my Debit Card details to which the Paypal account was linked. I stupidly sent them my details via email in a desperate attempt to put an end to it. They wrote back and said 'for security purposes' (please!) that they could only refund me via the same method with which I paid. I remembered reading about Visa protection - so I called up my bank and they told me that because I'd used Paypal as an intermediary, they couldn't help me, their Fraud and Legal guys told me that Paypal had a legal right to help me. So I contacted Paypal. They told me that my choice to close the dispute waived my right to any support from them. I was literally at my wits end - this had become a matter of principle not about the £2 anymore! I then entered some kind of search in to Google like 'Boohoo customer service telephone number'. To say I was shocked by the results would be an understatement. Apparently I wasn't the only one. They were rated 1 star out of 5 on a consumer website for consumer confidence and trust. They were ranked lowest on another for online clothing stores. There were forums strewn all over the web about their poor customer service and shoddy policies (including, but not limited to, their lack of phone number). And, they had essentially conned me into closing a Paypal dispute, knowing it would leave me completely at their mercy! When I looked back on my impression of Boohoo at the beginning I realised that it was made up of all the good stuff, because that's all I'd heard. If I'd read the reviews and trust / service ratings, I'd probably never have ordered from them. I eventually called Trading Standards (or Consumer Direct I think they are called), for the first time ever in my life! They advised me that due to the distance selling regulations I was entitled to a refund for the postage, because the regulations state that a person must receive an item ordered over the phone / via web (distance) within 30 days OR within the timescale specified where a service has been paid for. They also advised me that I was entitled to a full refund for the goods too, as they'd not been supplied on time. They told me to post a letter recorded delivery and give Boohoo 14 days to respond (then call them back if they hadn't). Sure enough, mention of the act, the consumer advice body and the demand for a reply or further action worked - I got an email back from them. This time though I noticed it was written like a letter and sought to actually investigate my issue. They told me I would receive a refund via Paypal (a miracle, given the earlier problems) for the postage. They did tell me that they would not refund me for the dress unless I returned it and I didn't know if this was right or wrong, but to be honest I was just so fed up with it all I didn't really care anymore. My experience with Boohoo left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth and had me think a lot about 'fast fashion'. I came to the conclusion that if I wanted over priced but fashionable clothing with a risk of weird sizing and cuts I'd go to Primark, if I wanted cheap, good quality fast fashion I'd 'splash out' and go to New Look, George at Asda or H&M. I would never, ever shop online now with a company who I hadn't checked with about their telephone number and customer services policy - I'd been well and truly burnt. However, although the company don't care about the customers who have a bad experience, that doesn't really matter while magazines are giving them awards for cheap fashionable clothing (they must spend their customer service budget on marketing and press releases). They don't have anything in their About Us section about Customers and I really have to agree with all of the scathing reviews I've read online. Mention of their name makes me shudder... However, all that said, people I know have had great experiences with them, so if you are willing to take a gamble and aren't relying on anything to arrive for a particular occasion or event and aren't particularly bothered about quality measurements, lengths, cuts, etc; then the bottom line is that they offer fast fashion very cheaply and have won awards for such. Boohoo can be found at www.boohoo.com. They have a Twitter account and Blog and even a TV channel (online) on which you can find out all about latest trends, styles and new items in stock. Thanks for reading
I have in the past placed three orders with the retail clothing website, boohoo.com, without incident. I was until recently quite happy with the quality of the items and the price paid. Delivery is speedy. I purchased a few dresses which were decent quality for a quick fix of trend dabbling (best avoided at my age anyway!), a furry jumper that I was quite pleased with, and a beaded blouse which is really lovely. I found the sizing to be accurate although I purposefully bought items that were not in the trashy and tight section which does comprise much of this site's product. The website has such a vast amount of product that navigation can be slow, although specific searches and category tabs can help narrow this. There are also customer reviews which are invaluable when it comes to shopping online. I really do not shop for clothing online often as so often there are discrepancies in fit/quality. Unfortunately with my most recent order there was one item that just looked very tacky in person and didn't suit at all, so I posted it back expecting a full refund. It took a good two weeks before they confirmed they had received my returned item (this after me prompting them with an email). They informed me they were very busy etc etc (it was shortly after the holidays). And then a couple more weeks passed before they confirmed my card had been refunded - minus a £2 "re-stocking fee", which apparently they charge for each returned item. I honestly thought this was a joke, but having been ripped off far worse by another online retailer in the past my hackles went right up. I did some Googling, with some conflicting results. I did find several sources highlighting that the Distance Selling Regulations act forbids re-stocking fees by websites, and having read the section several times myself it seemed fairly clear cut. I fired off an email to the company stating that it seemed to me they were operating in defiance of the act, which they have repeatedly denied, citing that I took more than 7 days to return the item (given that it was received a couple of days before Christmas and I returned it before New Year I would have thought there would be some leeway what with numerous non-working days in between), but they did not log it in as being returned until Jan 5th and further stated because I had not notified them in writing that it was within their rights to charge me the fee. I just cannot be bothered calling the Office of Fair Trading or whoever about this. It just boggles my mind that a company would continually alienate customers (needless to say I will not be shopping there again) with this attitude. Returns are a way of life with internet shopping, I have never been charged a fee like this before, so I am taking to the mean streets of dooyoo to moan about it, sorry! With the volume of goods this company must get in returns there is some major cash being made on the £2 per item re-stock fee. Yes it's only £2, maybe in this corner of consumer cheapism that is the price to be paid for my own folly. So forgive the unabashedly biased rating here if you wish. While I have been pleased with many items I have purchased here, in my opinion charging re-stocking fees is shady to see the least if not illegal, I am sure companies like this consider the massive profits they are making worth alienating customers, (though I for one cannot fathom why anyone would continue to put up with this when there are numerous other sites that do not charge a fee). Despite my repeated whinging this company refused to give me back money that was questionably at best charged. They do not give a toss about customer satisfaction. Shop at your own peril.
