I am a size 16 and quite a 'top heavy' kind of girl. A kind of girl that most retail fashion stores do not clothing for. It was my birthday coming up and I wanted a nice party dress that I could go out in. After looking several times on Boohoo (But deciding not to get anything), I decided to have a browse, which, led to me to falling in love with a Pink Skater Dress, which, they stocked in a size 16 and only £15.00, was I in heaven?
I was in no rush to get the dress, so I didn't pay for next day delivery, but instead standard, which was £1.95, if I remember correctly. Although I cannot remember how many days the dress had promised to come in, it came in just under a week, including a weekend, which I found good for the price. The dress was folded and in a little plastic bag, which the postman actually managed to squeeze through the postbox, I am not sure if this made me happy because I didn't have to go down to the Post Office (I was not in at the time), or unhappy as I had hoped that maybe it could have been wrapped in bubble wrap or something, to add more protection from it getting damaged. However, when I opened the dress. it was perfectly fine. The colour was a lot darker than what it seemed on the screen, and although this didn't bother me as I liked it, it is something to be wary of, and the material was quite thick, good, taking into account the dress was only £15.00. The dress, as seen on screen was a lighter pink colour and came with a black belt which broken the dress up into two. The belt, when the dress arrived was the only thing I could find that maybe could have been changed, as it looked cheap and 'market stall' like. However, so far, a happy customer.
However, this was about to change. I tried the dress on, and it was a bit of a squeeze, nevertheless it did fit me. However, under the arms were baggy and looked odd with a figure hugging dress. I then put on my shoes (Heels) with the dress, when I discovered I had made a big mistake in purchasing it. I am unsure how I should put this, but basically, the dress was so short, you could see my underwear from the back. Unfortunately, this was not just a glimpse, but a large chunk of my underwear. I tried it on with tights, but still, the dress looked nothing more than a long t-shirt. So, trying to comprimise, I tried it on with leggings, which just didn't look right whatsoever.
Disappointed, I wrote a review on the dress on Boohoo.com, which I probably should of read earlier, as there were not many positive reviews.
Although I did not read the small print, therefore this is my fault, I am also disappointed that when I finally got the chance to send the dress back, I was too late, as it is only 14 day returns. This, I do not feel is enough time for most people to decide on an item of clothing, and god help you if you decide to buy an item of clothing for someone as a present, you literally have no chance of sending it back, and so forth, I am stuck with a dress that will never leave my wardrobe.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend the quality of clothing from Boohoo.com. purely based on this dress. This is not however to say that I will not purchase again from Boohoo, as it may just have been this item and it is only my first experience with them. I will say that the prices are fantastic, but not if the clothing is not of good quality. A second chance, maybe, but somewhere I would recommend at the moment.
