Disadvantages: They will try to rip you off for all you're worth

I really wish I'd come here before signing up to this website, I never would have joined after reading the other review which has experiences very similar to my own.

I joined because the initial offer looked very good, but then you know what they say - if it looks too good to be true, it probably is! You get 6 books at a penny each and just have to pay the postage, which is a mega deal really. But once you do so you're in a contract to buy 4 more books from them, at full price.

I bought 4 books from them just weeks after getting my intial offer books, and I was quite pleased because I'd got them all at reasonbale prices. But then they started sending me Editor's choices that I'd rejected. They did this 3 times, and each time I went to check online that I had indeed rejected it (despite knowing that I had) they had conveniently removed that choice from my Editor's choice history, which is supposed to display all your past editor's choices and tell you whether you've received or rejected them.

Each time they told me I'd have to pay a £3 charge for returning the books, which I think is crazy when I never wanted the books in the first place and they knew this and just kept sending them anyway! When you email them they just spout automated replies at you over and over again, saying that you did not reject the choices and you must pay the £3 return charge. Each time I ended up giving in and paying the £3 charge.

I then said I wanted to close my account and they told me I can't close it until I've fulfilled my membership agreement by buying 4 books at full price. When I told them I'd already done this they removed the books I'd bought from my order history and carried on telling me that I must buy 4 full price books before they will close my account.

I think this is a disgusting way to treat customers and they're obviously just out to make as much money as they can by any means necessary, even if this means using con artist tactics which are surely illegal. They will not let you leave, so you're then tied to having to make sure you reject the editor's choice every month, and even then they still send you them anyway, it's just a total nightmare and really not worth it!

Please do not touch this company with a bargepole.
I wanted to give 0 stars, but apparently that is not allowed, so I've had to give 1 star.

lol. I asked them each time to send a freepost returns label or collect it themselves, but they refuse to do so. And even if they did collect it, they just add the £3 charge to your account. Thanks for the advice. I'm just a bit worried at what might happen if it went to court - I've never been in a court situation before.

Sorry that was bank statements although I am sure you would like to bang them.

The next time they send you a book tell them that you are not refusing to send it back but they must send a return envelope or come and collect it themselves if they want it. If they continue to do it do the same thing and if they threaten you with court action tell them to go ahead. Keep all emails check stubs or bang statements as proof. They wont have a leg to stand on and they know it.
