Advantages: Delivery Service, Easy To Use Website, Fantastic Offers
Disadvantages: Bot go everthing that in store
I decided to use Boots.com, which it is now known, for the first time when I realised that due to my various and awkward shifts at work I would not be able to go out shopping in order to buy my Dad a father’s day present this year. But with the amount of time I spend on the internet I thought that there must be some site on there that I can use. So I started hunting through various online shopping sites and came across this one.
I usually buy my Dad something from Superdrug or Boots be it aftershaves etc or something along that sort of lines. I then started to browse through the website which was relatively quite simple as everything is split into various departments which can be selected at the top of the home page.
As you move your mouse over each of the department headings you get a list of sub headings which make shopping even easier by breaking down the larger lists of products into smaller ones. Off I went into the men’s fragrance section where I was presented with three offers that they had at present and a further list of heading to click onto down the left hand side.
After selected a heading such as fragrance like I did you get presented with a page that contain a list of the branded fragrances ranging from Burberry to Gucci, there is plenty to chose from. They also have 2 other sections, every day fragrances and limited edition fragrances. It was under the limited editions section I found some FCUK products.
Knowing my Dad was a fan of these products I felt this would be the best thing to choice for him. So I ordered a selection of FCUK fragrances, ranging from aftershaves to body sprays etc. Now just one more thing, delivery. I hoped that from a large company such as Boots this would be a simple and fast thing to arrange, and it was.
After adding all the products to your basket you are taken through to a page that contains your actual shopping basket. This shows you a list of everything that you are ordering, the sub total plus the delivery charge and then the overall total. They offer a range of delivery services to suite your needs. My delivery was free as I had spent over £40 providing I got wait for delivery within 5 days.
The other delivery options you can have include:
Standard delivery within 5 days for £3.50 if order under £40
Next day delivery for Monday to Friday for £5.50
Named Saturday delivery for £5.95
Named weekday delivery for £4.50
The only products that you can’t have delivered next day are items that are from the pharmacy. In my opinion these delivery charges are more than reasonable even for next day delivery which can be great if you are in a hurry for something. Like a last minute present, the only condition is that you order before 3pm. The only problem is that if an item is out of stock then you won’t know till you receive the order as they will send the rest of it to you.
Another great service they offer with deliveries is that you can have it delivered to another address. This can be particularly useful for presents if you can’t get to the person before the actual birthday etc. They will allow you to enter a message to go with the item which is a free service. If you want they can also gift box the items for you for only £2.95 but they only charge you this once even if your order uses more than one box.
The delivery arrived to me within the 5 days as promised as was 100% complete, the whole time I received emails from Boots to day they my order had been received, and that my order had been despatched etc. A service which is more than others offer.
Overall the Boots website has pretty much everything you need and with delivery charges such as those above it is a great shopping place to use. For someone like me who loves to shop online rather than wander around the shops especially when they are busy this is the perfect site to us. Since that one occasion I have used this site plenty of times and will continue to do so.
As far as customer service goes, the services that I received around my delivery was great with the emails etc but as yet have not had to actually contact their customer services so can’t really comment on that.
The only real downside to the web site is that they do not have all of the offers that you would find in store. They do however have plenty of offers on the site, by clicking under the heading offers you get to chose from the following:
Gift Mix & Match 3 for 2
2 for £
3 for 2
5 for £10
Buy 1 get 1 free
Extra points
Free gift
Save
Offer of the Week
Clearance
So although you can’t find everything in the stores on the site there is a fantastic range online to choose from and the site is definitely worth a look at least. The site itself is very simple to use, easy to navigate through and the speed of the site is quite fast so once again no problems there. All I would say is if you like Boots stores then you will be a big fan of Boots.com.
