Carland - what can I say. My wife purchased her fourth Astra (X reg, 50,000 miles and £6,000) from the branch at Lakeside in March. It's the second time she's bought from Carland (previous Astra from Enfield). Anyway before she signs on the dotted line, she asks when the cambelt needs to be changed. Salesman goes away to confirm. Second salesman who ties the deal up whilst trying to sell you insurance you do not want, eventually shows us an 80 point inspection document, which shows that they've checked manufacturers recommendations for cambelt replacement, that the cambelt is due to be replaced at 80,000 and thht they have not changed the cambelt. I bought a 3 year old BMW 320 diesel from Carland Chertsey on 31st March this year and was well and truly ripped off. I was due to start a new job and wanted a reliable diesel car (and I made this clear to the salesman that my contract of employment stated that I needed a vehicle "fit for purpose"). I asked to see all paperwork connected with the car and didn't see any major problems.
