In addition to Amazon, I also like to use other similar sites like Play and cd101 to buy cheap cds and dvds.
I'd heard friends talk about cdwow for years, so when I noticed that they had a fairly decent sale on I decided to finally give them a try. I ordered a metal cd from them, and it arrived within about a week or so. Not a massively slow delivery time, but nowhere near as fast as the other sites I regularly used. The reasons for this became clear when I noticed that the package had been shipped over from Hong Kong.
I had been sent the correct cd, and it was in new and sealed condition, but when I turned it over I noticed that it was a re-release on a South American label, and appeared to be a bootleg of some kind. Perhaps it was legitimate- it can be hard to tell with South American and Eastern European reissues, but in any case these tend to be unwanted and people often send them back, as indeed I decided I would do.
I attempted to contact cdwow several times to expain that I was unhappy with the item and required a refund , but I received no reply to any of my emails to them. In the end I gave up, and ende up stuck with the cd, vowing to never use cdwow ever again.
The site is easy to browse, their prices are reasonable (but not really enough to make you use them over Amazon), but their customer service appears to be abysmal, and the quality of their prodcs (cds anyway) suspect. obviously this is only a single transaction, but the total lack of customer support is enough to stop me from ever going back.
CDWOW.com is an ocassional favourite online dvd store of mine. It features some great bargains and they feature other region DVD's.
If you have a multi-region DVD player, you can play these other region DVD's and they often are a little cheaper than the region 2 DVD's on this site.
Like amazon and play.com, you need an account but this is free to obtain.
Once you have selected an item that you like, you add it to the electronic basket.
The checkout system is rather simple, with filling out the mandatory form for your name and address.
This site takes Paypal or Credit/Debit cards as form of payment. So, you will have to enter your card details if you wish to purchase with that.
In my experience, an item has been sent to me within three days, just like Amazon and Play.com.
There was a situation where an item was lost in the post but a quick phone call and the situation was swiftly sorted out and I was refunded my money, although I was given an option for a replacement.
A couple of days later, I was sent a post office form to fill out for the missing DVD which I sent back to cdwow.com and that is the last I heard of the situation.
DVD's are sent in a padded envelope with a printed receipt inside.
I haven't actually ordered anything else apart from DVD's.
The website's choice of items is much more limited than Amazon and Play, with just DVD's, games, books and CD's as the choices but within those categories, there are literally, hundreds of items to choose from!
All in all, CDWOW.com was a pleasant experience to shop with and I have no hesitation to shop there again, especially with their lower priced alternative region DVD's.
CD Wow is an online retailer which sells many ranges of products, such as books, DVD's, CD's, games, and many more.
CD Wow sells a wide range of products at reasoabble prices, and whnever I make a purchase, I always compare prices and occasionallt see CD Wow near the top of the list with one of the most cost-effective prices.
CD Wow currently often have great discounts and prices on DVD,s CD's, Box Sets, and many other items. Their delivery rates are also very average and depending on what you purchase, or the price you pay, they may deliver to you free of charge.
I have ordered many items in the past from CD Wow and have never had a problem with them. I find them very reliable in terms of stock and delivery, cost-efficient, and their site is really easy to navigate and browse around.
Also, once you open up an account with them online (free of charge), next time you wish to make a purchase, often your card / address details are already saved on your account so therefore you don'y have to go through the whole process again, which can make the process of purchasing a lot simpler.
Cd Wow is an internet shop that sells products over the internet. As you would imagine the main focus of there sales are CDs. I have not used this site very often but as I recently had some dealings with them I thought I would review them.
The website is pretty easy to use. You can buy other things besides CDs such as DVDs, computer games, and books. Plus a few other bits and pieces here and there.
The choice is excellent, they have everything you would expect for a site like this and plenty of things you might not expect. The prices are pretty good, you can often get CDs for £7.99 which is really quite cheap. You have an opition of insuring your purchases in the post and this is quite cheap as well.
I recently ordered a White Lies CD. Now I must mention this was done via my Nectar Points account so am not sure it that slowed the process down. But it did take three weeks for the CD to arrive. For me that is just way to long! And when it arrived they had sent me Westlife by mistake! Now that was not a nice surprise!
Anyhow I got in contact via email with them and they did very quickly get back in touch with me. Sending me an order form and an address label to post back to them. They said they would send the correct CD on receipt of the Westlife one. All well and good but I expect it will be weeks before I get it, and certainly won't be here for Christmas, which was the whole point of me ordering it!
Other than this little mishap though I have been quite happy with the service I have had from CD Wow. It's not the first place I would go when looking to shop online but its a decent alternative.
It will depend on how they deal with my return of my new CD, but if they handle it well I see no reason why I won't be using this site in the future.
And its also worth mentioning you can cash in your Nectar Points for CDs from CD Wow. Although as I mentioned it can take along time for them to actually turn up! Anyway if your after some cheap goodies, give it a try!!
One choice to make for shopping online is CD WOW for me because of their well priced deals often. CD WOW sells computer games, music cds and also movies such as blu ray dvds on the website.
By becoming a member of the website you will weekly receive newsletter which will give you voucher codes to use for your shopping on the website. The amount you get is around a pound but once I did receive 2 pounds of the website.
They have price cuts in their special section called the bargain basement on the website. Here you will find only the best prices for dvds, music cds and games on the website.
They cut down prices on them and you can at times find proper bargains when you are using your voucher codes you can make it even cheaper shopping here.
Delivery does not take them much time either as they delivery quick and fast. Used the website on 6 different occasions earlier in the year and they have been fast with their services.
On a regular basis I check the website if they have any special deals on. They do have special deals on weekly now and the 1 pound vouchers never stop coming in your inbox which makes you save more money when you use them on here.
I've shopped a few times at CD WOW, and to be honest they've not been bad overall. The prices are certainly very competitive most of the time, and they have some rather excellent sales which are very much worth looking at. Product quality is excellent, and customer service (on the one occasion I had to use it) was pretty good too, so why would I not be wow'd by them you say...
Well, for me it's their packaging that really badly lets them down. It's not that they don't package things well - they do... in fact that is the problem, they OVER package everything so much that I cringe whenever I buy something from them because of the wastefulness of their resources. I don't need each cd to be wrapped in cellophane, and then encased in a cardboard sleeve, and then for each sleeve to be placed in a box and have more cellophane to seal them to one side of the box and then for the empty space in the box to be filled with more plastic that's filled with air. Honestly, what a waste!!!
On the other hand, I do like that they take paypal. I'm not a huge fan of using credit and debit cards online, so I rather like stores that accept paypal because it makes it much easier for me to make purchase without having to worry about my card and if the site is secure and so on. CD Wow's delivery times are pretty good as well I have to say, I ordered something from them recently and placed an order with Amazon at the same time, and the item from CD Wow (both were cds) arrived 3 days before the Amazon one did even though both stores said that the items were in stock at the time and the Amazon warehouse is just 10 mins up the road from where I live, so that's definitely one up to CD Wow.
Now if we could just get them to work on that packaging....!
CD Wow is an online retailer of CD's, DVD's & games. This was one of the first sites I ever used for buying my CDs & DVDs online and have been using it ever since. There are quite a few reasons why I've stuck with the site.
Firstly I find it really easy to navigate around with the horizontal toolbar at the top of the page showing the main category of products. You are then able to drill down and find the relevent item you're looking for. There's also a very useful quicksearch facility to search the whole site or various sections.
Secondaly and probably most importantly the prices are unbeatable. I very rarely have found the same product cheaper on any other site. They offer great value and free delivery on everything with no minimum spend.
I would recommend signing up to their emailing list as they will send out regular money off vouchers which give you even more of a saving.
The only one downside is that the delivery of products even when in stock can take around a week. This is because they are being shipped from abroad, hence the low prices. The products though are well packaged preventing any damage during transit.
If you love buying CDs or DVDs, make sure you check out CD Wow, you will be very impressed.
I didn't get the item I purchased. They said they had it in stock, then made it look like I hadn't given them my correct address and that the item was returned to them. They asked for my correct address which I gave them. They said they would make a new order and gave me a new order number and a promise that they would sent me the item. Then a few days later I received an e-mail with a notice of a refund of my money. When I asked why I didn't get my item I received no response. Many online shops use this tactic. They pretend to have an item and then when they cannot come up with it and you have complained for a long time most of them luckily refund your money. But this is a waste of the customer's time. I bet they still have that item listed on their site as "in stock".
I regularly use CD WOW to purchase any CDs, DVDs or computer games. The prices on this web site always seem very reasonable and there are quite often alot of offers available to their registered users. These offers are sent via email, and can arrange from a percentage discount to money off, usually £1.
I often find that most of the items on this website are shipped from Hong Kong. Maybe this is how the company manage to keep the prices so low!
It is always worth looking through the Bargain Basement items on CD WOW, because in the past, I have managed to find some amazing deals. For example, I once purchased The Eurythmics Greatest Hits for as little as £1.24, though this did include some special offer discounts.
CD WOW also now sell additional items, such as book and tickets. I would always recommend that you check out some other sites first though before you buy just to ensure that you are getting the item at the best price possible.
CD wow is one of the leading sellers of CD's, DVD's, computer games of all platforms and even cosmetics. The online retailer began in 2000 and has grown through sales and reputation ever since. The items sold are cheap and almost always cheaper than highstreet prices, and are most certainly some of the cheapest prices to be found on the internet.
Prices for CD's start from £5.99 but in honesty, generally leading new release albums generally start from £7.99, new DVD's from £10.00 and computer games (PS2 in this case) £30.00. Before buying an item from sites such as Amazon.co.uk or play.com, i would certainly reccommend visiting CDWow.com to check prices, you may grab a bargain.
When ordering with the website, you must first register with the website which is a quick and pain free. Word of note that the first orders must be dlivered to the address that the credit or debit card is registered with.
Items are generally shipped very quickly and post and packaging is free. The range of goods is massive and the search function is both sensitive and sensible. I have been a customer of CD Wow for 4 years to date i have personally have not had a problem with the website and only have positive words for the company as whole.
I have been using this site for years, excellent prices, customer services, range, etc. They proved very helpful also with sourcing non-copy protected CDs. However, with the hefty fine and then subsequent change of ownership they have become the worst site I have ever used (or now, not using!). Pre-ordered items fail to arrive, the wait goes on for weeks after the release date with no information ,etc. Special offers are only special in that you order them, and then a month goes by with them eventually cancelling your order telling you they can no longer source it. This has caused me (and cost me) untold problems with late presents (or no presents in fact). I complained and got a polite but obviously stock response, stating they would pass it onto management for comment... nothing. Was a fantastic site, now don't bother, use Play or Amazon. Shame.
Now there's a lot of reviews on here singing CD Wow's praises, but rather than tell you what they sell etc, this is my personal experience of CD Wow.
I've only ever used CD Wow once, and that was quite enough!
On the 29th of September I pre ordered Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica for my husband for £17.99. It was due to be released on the 6th of October and as it is shipped from Hong Kong, I expected it to arrive approx 7 - 10 days later.
Well, a week after the release date i got an email from them telling me it was out of stock due to supplier issues and I could expect to received the DVD soon. I looked on their website and it had gone up in price to £24.99 BUT they were showing as being in stock.
I assumed they hadn't updated the website to show they were not in stock, but I checked again a few days later and the status was the same. I can only assume they were selling the stock they had to people paying the higher price.
Anyway, since that first email telling me about their supplier problems, I had a further 3 emails pushing the delivery times back even further.
The DVD eventually turned up today, 35 Days after the release date. To me, this isn't acceptable practice and I personally will NEVER use CD Wow again. In the current climate, shops should be trying to encourage us to spend, not push us away.
They may have been telling the truth and they had supplier issues. But if that was the case, then why show the same item as being in stock on the website and risk annoying more customers? If it is true, then it's definately about time they changed suppliers.
I have considerable experience of CD Wow, having used it to make many online purchases.
CD Wow initially came to my attention when I was given some gift vouchers from them about 2 or 3 years ago, and I decided I should use them. However when going on their website I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the vouchers went further than I initially expected. I quite quickly discovered that this was due to the CDs being a lot cheaper than on the highstreet, as at the time I didn't really do a great deal of shopping online.
As I later discovered, the reason that the goods are so cheap is because the company is based in Hong Kong and so there is no tax on purchases. A lot of the products are also intended for the foreign market, which is why for instance many of the DVDs won't work in British DVD players. However for CDs this doesn't cause any problems (well I haven't encountered any anyway) as long as you make sure that the version is the version you want as the seemingly same album by the same artist sold in different markets can often have a differing tracklisting.
The CDs are generally dispatched almost immediately, and whilst delivery times are longer than some competitors, presumably due to the need to import the CD into the country, the CD itself is generally cheaper. This means that if you are prepared to wait an extra day or two before you receive the goods, you can save a couple of pounds.
Something I get particularly annoyed at is when items ordered off the internet arrive in a bad condition due to poor packaging. However, this is something I have never encountered in all my experiences with CD Wow.
Only once has CD Wow proved to be frustrating, and this was when I ordered an item which was out of stock, and then it didn't arrive for about a month, where-as typically other suppliers which are based in the UK would have suppled it much quicker.
Despite my online music buying habits having changed so that I use price comparision sites, as well as cashback sites, I still often buy CDs from CD Wow due to the fact that they are often the cheapest supplier, and the products always arrive in imacculate condition.
This site is absolutely wicked. It's based in Hong Kong and it is my belief that all products are shipped directly from the manufacturers, which makes them even cheaper. You can save loads money on DVDs, CDs and a range of gadgets. All chart cds coming in at an amazing £6.99-£7.99. Although there are also a variety of ways to get even more money off. For example, www.cd-wow.com/nusextra will earn you an extra 50p off CDs and 75p off DVDs. The only negative thing is that the delivery can take up to and sometimes a little over a week, although not being impatient I never find this a massive problem.
I understand that there are lots of sites to buy CDs and DVDs on the web, but I honestly believe that this is the best and I don't think I've ever found anywhere cheaper for these products. (Sometimes Ebay will be cheaper, but this site is more reliable and you can always guarantee that the item will be quickly available)
Thoroughly recommend it.
