Advantages: Quick, Very cheap, User-friendly

Disadvantages: Not a huge selection, No UK-edition CDs but who cares

When I bought my first computer, I was really dubious about the Internet and the security that it offered. For the first few months all I was interested in was searching around for information on a variety of topics. Then, one Sunday morning , a £5 voucher from Amazon.co.uk appeared in my Inbox and that was it - Mr Internet Shopper was born !!!

Since that day in 1999, I have bought all sorts on the Internet, arranging car insurance without speaking to anyone, buying toffee from Thornton's , spending a fortune on auctions and even buying abook about buying on the Internet !!!

I came across CD-Wow last year in a magazine - it promised me top quality CDs of all genres for £8.99 including p+p - and again, my dubious side kicked in. You get nowt for nowt in this world and it seemed too good to be true . Were the CDs copies or did it mean 8 euros 99 ? So, with my credit card balance already shot to hell I investigated.

The website design itself is a little basic, no flying text or exciting links (!) , but when you are getting cheap music who cares ?

I typed in 'Led Zeppelin' in the top corner and up popped two 'Best Of..' CDs for £8.99 each. Wow, I thought, somewhat ironically. I put in a variety of groups and soon discovered that the range of CDs is quite wide. Don't go to CD-Wow if you are looking for a rare EP or 1980s New Romantic classic, but for stock chart and popular CDs you will not be disappointed. I decided to buy the two Led Zepp. CDs for my wife and proceeded to the checkout.....

The site promises SSL security and was thorough in its approach to my order. My only concern was that I was unsure 'where' CD-Wow was based. (On investigation, information is contained hidden away in the site, but I'll surprise you like it surprised me when my order arrived)

I clicked on the dreaded 'Confirm Your Order' button and off went my £17.98 into cyberspace !!

Two days l
ater our friendly postie knocked on the door with a white parcel. 'What did I order from Hong Kong ?' I said to my wife. I think she thought I'd been buying from Chopsticks.com again !!!!!

Hong Kong, it emerges, is where CD-Wow are based. Now call me a disbeliever, but I could not believe that it only took 48 hours for my CDs to be dispatched from Asia and arrive in perfect condition at my door. But please believe, it really did happen. So there it is , CDs arriving quicker than Streetsonline and Amazon in my experience, at a much cheaper price, and from Asia !!

OK, so if you want to fall foul to the Music publisher's scam of producing UK-only discs so that you will buy British, then don't go to CD Wow. You may lose one or two tracks this way, but you will not find anything cheaper... A top quality site from our Chinese cousins
