Advantages: easy, fast, cheap
Disadvantages: no compilations, no older CD's, no 'special editions'
Although they probably took the name from the already well-established www.cdnow.com this website is infinitely better. If you are looking for a cheap place where you can buy chart CD's cheaply and with minimal fuss then this really is the only Web page you need.
Where on the high street can you find current chart CD's for £8.99? You simply cannot. Anywhere. Nearly all of their CD's are priced at this barely believable price and they have everything that is in the popular charts at the time. They have the top 75 albums as well as the new releases as soon as they are out. There is no delay at all.
The last CD I bought from CDWOW was The Invisible Band from Travis. It came out on the monday, I ordered it with my solo card on the monday evening and it arrived, from HONG KONG(!), in the thurday post. Maybe this was because it was a new release and they may of had a lot of stock but I was incredibly impressed with the efficiency and ease of the whole system. Other CD's I have ordered have been delivered with similar speed but, on the one occasion when I was slightly cautious of them as it way the first time I had used them, they apologised for the delay with an email saying that they didnot have the CD and it came a few days later.
The whole buying process is easy, uncomplicated and secure. I did not have any doubts about their integrity when I first used them. The rest of the web site is helpful, there is a search engine which will find the CD you want without any trouble.
The only problem with CDWOW is very slight and something I am not really bothered by, but others may be. Sometimes people have released 'Special Editions' which include vidoes and singles, CDWOW do not sell these but as I said they do not interest me in the slightest. Also they do not sell compilation CD's, again I have no problem with this as they are usually poor anyway. If you are looking for an obscure CD or
a particularily old one then this wedsite may not have it either.

- 17/07/01 The CD's from CD-wow come from all over the globe, which is how they get them cheaper (CD's are quite often cheaper abroad), and you don't get the special editions because they are normally only available in the UK, and not from the overseas suppliers that CD-wow use.
