Advantages: Cost, Choice, Free delivery

Disadvantages: None really

I first got wind of www.cd-wow.com a couple of years ago through a friend. He promised any cd for £8.99 with free delivery. I had to check that out! I'd been paying £13-15 in the shops and about the same at other online shops.

Sure enough, as promised, cds for £8.99 and free delivery. I ordered one right away to test the water so to speak - there must be a catch I thought. Ashamed to admit but I bought a Robbie Williams cd as a present for my sister. I placed the order on a Sunday night and received the confirmation email straight after.
It took until the Friday to receive the cd but 5 days is perfectly acceptable as far as I'm concerned. Anyway the cds seem to come from the far east as the parcel had a customs label on. Don't let this put you off as it was a perfectly normal UK English cd.

The site also offers most dvds at £14.99 or less with free delivery. I don't own a dvd player but I'm well aware that this is a pretty good deal.

The website itself is fairly well laid out with the top 20 cds down the left and new releases featured down the middle. Down the right are links to their full catalogue, pre-releases, compilations, bargain basement (£6.99 or less) and dvds.

Pre-releases allows you to view and reserve a copy of soon to be released cds, dispatched for the usual price as soon as it becomes available.
There are usually some really good cds in the bargain basement, sometimes for only £3.99 .

Ordering:

It's the usual 'click to add to cart' style and 'click to proceed to checkout'.
Well laid out and easy to see what you've ordered and how much you have to pay.

Payment:

A secure site that accepts all the usual debit and credit cards (switch, delta & solo, mastercard & visa). There are other methods of payment available. Paybox, Smartcreds, Splash Plastic & M-Pay. These methods require you have a registered account with them. I just
prefer to use a debit card. You can also post a good old fashioned cheque.

Once the transaction is complete (takes a few minutes to fill out the details) you are sent an email confirming your order.

Waiting for your cds:

It usually takes 4-6 days for them to arrive. The shortest I've waited is 3 and the longest 8.
There is a feature on the site that allows you to track you order to see how much longer it will take to arrive.

Receiving the cds:

They arrive in the post wrapped in a little cardboard envelope. They come in pairs if you've ordered more than two cds. Expect 3 parcels if you've ordered 6 cds for example.

THE PLUS POINTS OF CD-WOW:

The cost of the cds is the main plus with this site. I've never found one cheaper and one with free delivery.

There is a wide selection of cds available, from older still popular cds to mainstream recent music.

Good selection of dvds.

Easy and efficient ordering and quite speedy delivery.

Negative points:

Catalogue doesn't feature every artist you would ever want, though covers most.

Could have more compilations avaiable, though the number available is rising all the time.

The truth is I can't really say anything bad about cd-wow.com, they've never let me down yet.

Give it a try it's great value.

Thanks for reading.
